Offseason Flat Cap

Description
Dallas, the time has come for a retool. They have young pieces to build around but they also have a lot of veterans who are likely gone and a lot of questions to be answered. All trade rumors are centered around Klingberg. A lot of their trade chips will be gone in free agency.

Rule: No calling up players with no NHL experience, training camp will determine that

First, let's get the RFA's under contract

Jake Oettinger looks good and is slated to be the goalie of the future. A Demko-esque contract seems to be the going rate but with a little less term and money. Dobby will serve as a placeholder backup as Dallas won't be good and it's a roster spot filled

Second, Denis Gurianov. He looks to be the Hintz's wingman for the next little while, he'll want to be paid but I don't want to give him too much term.

Extend and pay Jason Robertson. He might get a bit more but I'm unsure

Esa Lindell is likely the biggest trade chip, there is a logjam on the Left D side. I'm going to send him to a team that needs defence after this season. He should fetch a solid return as a guy in his prime with term and a fair contract

Finally, they need some D on the right side, Stetcher and Gustavsson should be cheap and solid options for a team beginning to retool

Would I like to move the Suter, Benn, and Seguin contracts? Yes, but I am unsure which one could/would be moved and where?

Glendening on the 2nd line makes me want to vomit violently.

L’Esperance & Kero should also not be on this roster. With guys like Bourque, Damiani, and possibly Johnston & Stankoven, the Stars have the young players to challenge for those roster spots

Lindell’s likely not waiving his NMC either. Not even sure I’d focus on moving him either. Id rather focus on getting rid of Faksa than Lindell. With Heiskanen’s ability on the right side, I’d leave him there for the time being

A big problem with Dallas is all the NMCs Jim Nill gave out. If it wasn’t for those it would be easier to trade more veterans.

Out of the three you named, Suter is the most likely to be moved since Benn and Seguin’s contracts are untradeable.

What I’m hoping for most is Nill and Bowness to be gone ASAP

If you look at my rules, I can't add players with no NHL experience. Training camp is to determine that. I dealt Lindell because he has significant value and Washington has been linked to him. Glendenning on line 2 is bad... no arguement there. From what I can tell, nobody wants Suter

Problem is I found (via the bowels of the Internet) that Washington called about Lindell, nobody has called about Suter or Faksa. Lindell's return will help retool though
