All these caps threads with so many trades so feel like it’s bad. I don’t think this is necessary, a big reason we have been not doing well is because we have had big injury/COVID/ problems the whole year. There are 2 things the team needs and should acquire at the TDL. A goalie, they should go for Holtby or Fleury. And a offensive defenseman, because besides Carlson the only other offensive defenseman is Schultz(yes Orlov provides offense but he is more 2-way) Schultz has been so terrible and is hurting the team. They need to dump him and trade for an offensive Defensman, like Subban

Based on this site, the Isles can do better than that for Varlamov.

Subban is the last thing they need. He’s extremely unreliable… like a downgraded Schultz. Maybe Miller is a better option. Holtby would be cool to add but team defense sucks and the special teams need to drastically improve to win.

Very possible but they get a solid 1b goalie + pick for basically 1.5 years of SV. Rarely do goalies get big returns. MAF was basically free.

Depends on the market and who is trying to obtain him. Lol if this is the best offer on the table I doubt sharks leave potential assets on the table for a UFA player 😊

Fleury was also a cap casualty. Isles are in great shape next year for the cap. It's the year after they're in a bit of trouble, but Varlamov will be a free agent by then.

Isles will trade him to improve in other areas or regain assets. They can keep him as easily as they can trade him. Varlamov won't be a cap casualty.

How? Doesn’t TM had a 9mQO? I don’t see how they have the cap space

Huh? Timo isn't RFA until 2024. Regardless why would he sign a 1 year 10 mil deal when he can sign a 8 year 8.5mil deal? Terrible career choice. Also, Kane's contract is off the books and Vlasic is probably bought out in the next two years. It's very simple to read team cap space projected, this site simplifies it.

Why would he sign the QO he’s owed? Why would the sharks structure it that way is the better question. I just opened a test 23-24 … FYI he’s a RFA in 2023-24 lol not 24-25. ANYWAY If the cap doesn’t go up they have 42million (w vlasic buyout) w 6 players signed. Not that hard to know when contracts expire… this site simplifies it.

Also to answer you question .. he could fetch more $$ as a FA OR he can sign for 8.5m in Vegas or Fla and make way more due to no state tax. Sharks are going to need to wisely spend cap in the next offseason bc Hertl is a UFA
