Team: 2021-22 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 21, 2022
Published: Jan. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Going-all in this year, taking advantage of Chicago being stupid enough to consider trading the guy, and potentially replacing Rust on the roster for next season.

Zucker can sit on LTIR for the rest of the regular season. Whatever injury he's dealing with is clearly not going away.

If they are stupid enough to be willing to trade him in the first place, I wouldn't trust them to get proper value in return.

But sure, throw in another 2nd, Hallander, and Legare too.

He was not on the list of "untouchable" layers that was reported this week.

And then Seravailli apparently talked about it. https://twitter.com/chisportupdates/status/1484351596238544899?s=21

Thanks just wanted to know. Maybe something like this could work then...

Zucker, Kapanen, 2022 1st, Poulin, Hallander for Debrincat, Strome?

Willing to listen to offers =/= will trade him if they can. It's highly unlikely they trade him unless it's for an overpayment, especially since he's RFA-controlled and has 1.5 years left on a stellar contract.

Also, if we trade him, we're going to want prospects (we'll certainly be rebuilding), not NHL-players, so Kapanen can be taken off.

Kapanen is still young and can produce. He'd be a good player to take back considering we don't have a strong prospect pool

Zucker isn't really helping the trade get done with his injury, lack of production, and cap hit.

Honestly he's worth like a 3rd but it's still positive value. And considering there rebuilding they can flip him at half retained for more picks and prospects

Poulin isn't that good of a prospect and a 1st round pick in the 20s just isn't that special. If they move him it would be for a true bluechip prospect, a 1st, and an established middle 6 player.

The quote wasnt "the blackhawks are looking to trade debrincat" you realize that right? It means if someone makes a competitive offer they would seriously consider it. He's by no means "on the block"

listening to offers doesnt mean take whats there it means your willing to listen and see if teams pay premiums this isnt even in the ball park of r a fraction of debrincat

Just being open to offers for the player is obscenely stupid enough to indicate a lack of sound judgment. He's the type of player you hope to get when rebuilding, not someone you trade away when he's 24. You also aren't going to get a better player in return because most teams aren't stupid enough to trade players of that caliber at that age.

Still doesn't fit w/ our strategy since he's turning 26 this offseason. We need home-grown talent (like Reichel).
