hoping rutherford sells

Description
Really hoping that Jim Rutherford hires the right GM and begins selling assets from now to the trade deadline. I would hope he wants a somewhat clean slate and sells off assets that have some value and alieves us from Benning's mistake and just tanks the season.

I wanted to go a different route with the JT Miller trade as lots of people have him going to NYR but I can see Colorado going all in this year. They have tons of expiring contracts so going for it should be the option, even if it means giving up a future pick.

Not a big fan of Pearson, never was tbh. Hagelin can bring some speed I guess but I would even swap them straight up one for one. He's got one less year on his contract too.

Motte just seems like a player that Tampa would love and they always tend to overpay

Somebody will take Poolman I just know it lol. He can be traded anywhere idc just get him off my team.

I doubt anyone will take Hamonic but who knows maybe an American team can sway his decision to want and try to play again.

Halak can be a super solid backup for Florida as Knight has struggled so far in his early career.

Hopefully new management can turn this team around and let me know how angry you are with the JT Miller mock trade :)

Av’s are my other choice for Miller. I simply like the combo of assets NYR could part with. Newhook package rather Jost would interest me.

Hmm overpay Coleman No on over pay Goodrow somewhat maybe Savard a little but 2Cups wipe that out. Where though is this magical cap space coming from?

We're never giving up Newhook, he's our 2C next year after Kadri leaves.

yeah I think they need to prioritize a first from 2022 for Miler. COL wont trade Newhook even though they should if they are in a "win now mode"

Easy no for the Avs yet again. Not even close. The Avs aren't giving up their top two non-NHL prospects, a first and a useful roster player for Miller and a bit part who'd rarely get a game in Colorado. Double no with no retention. But then this isn't a new offer, just even worse than most 'nucks fans manage.

Only if they're getting a genuine long term, young #2C in exchange.

I wouldn't mind a shuffling of a few pieces for sure. From reading some of the usual MSM guys it sounds like Miller could fetch a nice return, but I'd prefer that the main piece is a good young prospect or player that could jump in right away.

I mean Canucks could just retain 400k on Motte and then it’s fine lol.

I agree. Barron is a nice piece. 1st rounder is a nice piece. Jost is a nice piece. But none of them are high end. None of those pieces will be a JT Miller. I don’t see how this trade actually makes the team better

No that still leaves them over the cap and they aren't giving up on it young player on an excellent contract that isn't waivers exempt

Yeah uh, if you're begging to get hamonic off your team - you're paying us, not the other way around. Cause we don't want him either.

So what it’s just impossible for Tampa to add any player at all?

This is some smoking crack you’re higher than Chechen and Chong if you think COL is giving up their top d prospect, their top forward prospect, a 1st rd pick AND a roster player for a guy they have basically zero chance of retaining. Ridiculous wishful thinking. It puts them over the cap, and why in world does COL even need Miller? The Avs seriously hang up on you.

No they shouldn’t. He’s been great at 3C, will be the 2C next year on an ELC, COL needs him for his contract almost as much as his talent. Neither him or Byram are going anywhere soon.

Detroit won't be a buyer at the TDL. So maybe in the offseason.

$1.25 for the year. They always seem to find a way to fit players under the cap wink Just cuz they won the cup doesn't mean they're not over pays

When you're in win now mode, gotta do what it takes. Barron wont be any better than a #4 dman on a team. and if it makes you happier i'd take ranta instead of olausson

It's not meant to make them better? They're selling assets so they don't potentially lose him for nothing.

Um idk maybe cuz you want a better chance at reaching the finals after disappointing the past few years and have some high-end players headed towards free agency this year. Just cuz they're your best prospects doesn't mean they're going to be phenomenal players in the future. Look at what Tampa has done the past two years. Gave up prospects to get players who led them to 2 stanley cups back to back. The avalanche are gonna end up like the sharks and always make it far in the playoffs but never win. Salary retention is always an option too I forgot to add that, my bad.

Look at what Tampa did ehh? How many top 6 guys did they add? They paid a premium for Coleman a 3rd liner, they got guys to take friendly team deals, because they already had their skill guys top 6 and top 4 set. They also didn’t have a prospect like Barron to trade, but hey they didn’t flame out in the first rd to CBJ did they? And the moves they made didn’t affect their ability to re-sign core guys like Point, Cirelli and Cernack. So yeah COL isn’t over paying for ridiculous price like that for Miller when they can “do what Tampa did” by paying a more reasonable price for guys like Giroux or Pavelski and not worry about emptying the cupboard on guy they can’t keep.
