Unrealistically busy deadline

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 22, 2022
Published: Jan. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Note on the penguins trade: It seems their third in 2023 is likely to go to LA for a condition in the Carter trade. Consider it conditional and to move to 2024 based on the result of the LA trade.
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Zucker, Jason
  2. 2022 1st round pick (PIT)
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Penguins are reinforcing their lineup with this trade and picking up a third liner with control… however the real prize of this trade for the penguins is clearing Zuckers cap for next season. I don’t know what his deal is but a 5.5 cap for 13 in 31 this year is hardly good value.
PIT
  1. Borgström, Henrik
  2. Fleury, Marc-André ($3,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Chicago is taking on a significant risk in this trade (one more year of Zucker at 5.5) and for that reason they are guaranteed a first round pick . I’m not against reworking this trade with conditions on Zuckers performance or taking him out altogether but I’m not sure how that would look.
2.
CHI
  1. Amirov, Rodion
  2. Holl, Justin
  3. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
3.
CHI
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (CGY)
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (CGY)
4.
CHI
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (CHI)
CAR
  1. De Haan, Calvin ($2,250,000 retained)
5.
CHI
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (BOS)

CdH was dumped in Chicago for a reason, they won't bring him back for positive value

He’s an excellent defensive D on a rental contract for the deadline. For a third someone else will likely scoop him up.

He's a 3rd pairing DFD that's injury-prone making 4.5 mil... even half retained, you won't get more than a 4th for him... certainly not from the team that dumped him

eh not sure TOR would do that. A lot to give up. We will need cheap contracts with the cap situation next offseason.

Penguins say no so fast it's not even funny. Pens will find other ways to upgrade their backup and DO NOT need to give away a 1st to move Zucker.

Murphy trade for the Leafs is basically a non-starter. They need to dump cap next season, taking on Murphy's new contract with a higher hit doesn't work for them.

Pens decline. Zucker hasn’t played poorly. He has simply been snake bit. He’s an analytics darling. He’s biggest issue is that he needs a fast north/south skating line. He’s played mostly with Carter this year and an out of shape/injured Malkin last year. Not to mention he’s been dealing with a nagging injury all year.

Leafs fan won't like that trade. It might be a bit much imo. Pens trade seems good in value but pens fans aern't fun to deal with on this site and won't like it. I remeber before Jarry was good they always tried to trade him to us and it was not fun

Every no offence depth guy on all bad teams are somehow good defensive defenceman but their teams are all bad defensively somehow.

It's about 3 pieces too expensive. Holl is at the very least equal to Murphy who really isn't showing himself as a great defensive defenceman. His team can't defend and he gets scored on a tonne.

Murphy is not a 4.4 million dollar defenceman. He's a 3rd pair guy on many teams and you don't pay a 3rd pair guy make that much.

you don't watch hockey, or not the blackhawks at least. In what world is murphy a 3rd pair dman lmao. At the time of signing that deal it was also the consensus that it was a bargain

It was another mistake by Bowman. Murphy is closer to Holl than anyone on here wants to admit. Not saying he's terrible but he's really not much of anything. He's a limited player who is forced to do more than he's capable of on a bad team. I don't see him as a huge upgrade in TO and at his cost, I think he's just a bad contract. He shouldn't make more than 2.5 million.

Definitely not. But you're a Hawks fan so anyone who disagrees that Murphy isn't an amazing defensive defenceman you are going to ignore as a lunatic because that's how this site works. Anyone who disagrees with a homer about his favorite team's player is stupid and no quantity of evidence will away your opinion.
