Everybody wants to trade Klingberg to Toronto but forget that we have no cap space.

Look at the cap right now. Based on it being a rental deal you have enough money at the end of the year to do it. Holl going back the other way. Not that hard to believe Toronto can make a 4 million dollar contract work.

I don't see the point of moving Holl. I would rather keep him and try to get them to take Ritchie. Robertson, a 1st, Ritchie and a B Prospect or a 3rd. May need a 2nd instead of the 3rd. But I would keep Holl for better depth. I never want to see Biega ever play again.

They have about 2 million in accrued space. If they can move Ritchie they will have 4.5 million by the deadline.

if they move both Holl and Ritchie, then it works.

and with Holl out the picture that's about 2 mill as well. Dallas is going to need a replacement. Why would Dallas want to take Ritchie from you? The point here is if Klingberg gets traded to you for a run. You need to provide Dallas with some needs. Holl is probably one of the better defenseman Dallas could get. Ritchie is pointless on Dallas. Quite literally pointless.

Dallas is a team moving backwards. Get assets for futures. Holl would be a 1 year stop gap anyways.

As much as Klingberg is a good d-man, he's the wrong type of d-man for the Leafs. His game is similar to Sandin or Rielly, not saying any of the above are better or worse, but it doesn't do much for the aspect the Leafs are missing. Paired with Muzzin, I'm sure they'd be a good pair. But there's got to be a pick-up of a d-man who is more defensive minded, probably cheaper and not a rental - see the Nick Foligno mistake.

Toronto needs to look at making a run in the playoffs. Klingberg isn't strong enough defensively to help make that difference. I don't see Toronto having an interest in Klingberg or at least not at that price.

I don't see that being the case they have guys moving up soon. Harley should be a guy who would work well. Bringing in Ritchie would just further push them backwards honestly.

I honestly don't get how people don't see that Klingberg is the furthest thing from a fit in Toronto. He's Tyson Barrie 2.0 which didn't work cause he'd be relegated to the 2nd PP unit and not get the ice time he needs to produce. He's horrendous defensively 5v5 so he doesn't fit that need at all. & they're especially not giving up Robertson + 1st + a useful NHL dman for him. Klingberg and Holl would have the same role on the Leafs so why give up the rest?

This is actually awful.

He has a favorable buyout and is only 1 year. They are an older team with some bad contracts that should be moved out. But they will likely try to retool. Ritchie could actually work for their system since they aren't exactly a fast team.
