    1. Cousins, Nick
    Additional Details:
Reasoning here is that Read, Weise, Raffl are all significantly more expensive, and have large point declines in recent seasons. Vegas should not take a chance on Neuvy with much more consistent goalies available. Our defencemen that are not protected are equally unimpressive, with the exception of Jesper Petersson, but his lack of NHL experience and not having a strong expectations means Vegas passes. The choice here for Vegas is between Laughton and Cousins. I think they take Cousins because he plays a stronger defensive game, and can be inserted into an NHL lineup as a solid 4th liner even a decent 3rd liner when necessary. For the record Laughton and Cousins both come out right under 0.25 pts/game in their NHL career., with both playing around 110 NHL games.

    Additional Details:
Edmonton needs a backup goalie that can play about thirty games, hopefully Philly can ship him out. Another option would possibly to trade Neuvy to Calgary.

Miller would be a solid addition in net for a year or two, especially because he can serve as a good mentor to Stolarz and our other young goalie prospects. I just hope we are not priced out of the market for him. Another option could be Brian Elliott but I see more of a demand for Elliott and the Flyers being priced out in both term and money.

As for the defense it is a mess. My reasoning is that it is unknown which prospects will make the team from Sanheim, Morin, Hagg. Just in case none are ready Hexy resigns MDZ or another D-man that can play in the top-6. Ideally, all three are ready to play and MacDonald serves as 7th D-man, MDZ and Manning can be shipped out for picks. Realistically, two of the three prospects are ready, one prospect is sent to the AHL, MDZ or Manning can be shipped out for picks with the other serving as the 7th Dman, and then maybe shipped out at the deadline. If only one prospect makes it, then we hold on to MDZ and Manning until the deadline and ship one out then. Obviously, MDZ is not the only option in this role, the goal is a cheap serviceable bottom pairing D-man that we can move out easily. Other options include Y. Weber, Hunwick, Polak, F. Tyutin, Prosser, Shultz , Cody Franson, and Seidenberg if we can afford him.

Hopefully, we do not resign Vandevelde, as he is useless, and Filppula can takeover his penalty killing duties.

Raffl or Weise may also be moved during next season for the right return and if they pick up their play and consistency.
