Selling at the deadline

Created by: njlaforte
Team: 2021-22 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 22, 2022
Published: Jan. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the Jets are sellers at the deadline this is what I would like to see.
Trades
1.
WPG
Players the jets could possibly get back:
    Chytil
    Kakko
    Kravtsov
    Lundkvist
    Schneider
    NYR
    1. Copp, Andrew
    Additional Details:
I feel like if Copp is moved at the deadline, it will be to the Rangers. According to Friedman the rangers are looking to get one forward and one d. Also Jeff Marek said that if looks like Filip Chytil is the odd man out in NY. Im wondering if we could possibly get Kakko back. We probably would need to add something but that is a young RW that we need.
    2.
    WPG
    1. 2022 2nd round pick (MIN)
    MIN
    1. Stastny, Paul ($1,725,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
Probably can't get a second. Maybe have to add a late pick or someone else with little value like Beaulieu.
    3.
    WPG
    EDM
    1. Comrie, Eric
    Additional Details:
If the oilers are desperate at the deadline for any goalie maybe they would give a decent pick back (3rd?, 4th?...). We have Berdin that I think could have been our back up from the start of the season.
    4.
    WPG
    ANA
    1. Stanley, Logan
    Additional Details:
Anywhere that you can get the highest pick. I still think that at least one GM would give a first for him
    5.
    WPG
    ANA
    1. Dillon, Brenden
    Additional Details:
Probably won't get moved at the deadline but I would just send him anywhere so you can get both Heinola and Samberg in the lineup at the same time.

We can’t move Kakko, we’d have nothing left on the right side. I could see Lundkvist and a 1st, maybe Kravtsov but that’s it.

You mean 1st, lundkvist, and kravtsov for Copp?

Yep, trade him to get some value then sign him back in FA

Forget Kakko and Schneider. Others are in play.

I actually like these lines except for 2 minor things:

Swap Svech and Perfetti: Perfetti has a lot of vision which is something that the first line lacks. Svech and Dubois played together in the past so I feel like they mesh well together.

Swap DeMelo and Schmidt: DeMelo and Samberg playing together would create a shutdown pairing which is something the Jets don't even have. Schmidt also produces more whenever he's with JoMo.

As for trades the assets we are sending are reasonable, though I would trade Schiefele over Copp AND buyout Wheeler. I think the Jets should change the culture of the team.

Schiefele mock trade could look like this:

    Rangers get: Schiefele
Jets get: Rangers 1st, Lundkvist, 2nd rounder, and Kravstov

It was apparently rumored that the Jets have interest in Kravstov.

I agree with the lineup changes. They won't trade Schiefele unless they are going to tear it right down and do a full rebuild, he will be the next captain. I doubt that wheeler will be bought out, he might retire before his contract expires but he will end his career here. Copp probably won't resign here so that is why I have them trading him if they are selling.

    No.
Just keep him and don’t risk him not coming back.
    Jets needs aren’t addressed here.
Need RW and RD upgrades, in that order, and this is just selling for no reason.
We could package Copp and Stanley and a pick to get an RW, instead of selling them off individually

Copp for a 1st, Lundkvist (RD), and Kravtsov (RW).

I think you are severly overvaluing Copp in a deadline that may very likely include Giroux, Pavelski, and Hertl, who are all definitely better and still definitely won't return a blue chip prospect

Personally, I have no interest in Kravtsov, and I’d really like if we could get an actual right handed RW.
Someone mentioned Copp+Stanley+Comrie for Puljujarvi on another post and I’d be all over that.

No way they should make lackadaisical Scheifele the next captain.

    1st or 2nd

Devils would not do a 1st...not where we are in standings. Maybe a 2nd. We gave a 3rd for Siegenthaler.

Am thinking of a scenario where we'd move Graves in off season if we don't re-sign him.

The majority of these posts would never actually be done because GMs are afraid, conflicted, cheap, have favorites, and refuse to see reality.
They get comfortable and lose vision.
Chevy for example refuses to see the obvious and move Scheifele and Wheeler, making the chances the Jets succeed less and less likely every year until he’s eventually fired and the new GM starts over.
The Oilers are flailing and are ripe for the picking.
The Jets have obvious needs, but Chevy refuses to address them and holds a weird bias towards left handed players.
Successful teams have a good mix of left and right handers, increasing their shooting angles and options and making them less predictable. Right

Last summer when Copp and Stanley weren't signed I was thinking, Copp and Stanley for Boeser

No doubt there's some dumb GMs but even Holland isn't going to trade one of his few legit top 6 wingers whos an RFA for a UFA in Copp, Stanley whos only been a 3rd pair guy and plays a position Edmonton doesn't really have a huge need for (though they could use help on D)and a fringe backup in Comrie whos only played a handful of NHL games. Idk what Edmonton would want for Puljujarvi but I'm sure it's more then that.

You won't get any disagreement from me about Chevy, have thought he's been kinda lost for years, he's just not active enough.

I think you're the one with a weird bias/hangup about players handedness.. lol 😆
