I'd rather have Mackinnon than Draisaitl. Drai may put up the points but he's a huge defensive liability, weakening just about every line he plays with. Mackinnon is definitely the stronger player and especially on that contract.

At the least the Avs can consistently get in the playoffs. Plenty of teams struggle in the playoffs before succeeding. The difference between Mac and Draisatl isn’t enough to make this trade worth thinking about.
