I also wrote in your other team, but as a Coyotes fan I'm definitely accepting that. Don't think most of your fellow Rangers fans do, however.

Correct, as a Rangers fan I wouldn't do that trade lol

Ottawa would jump on that

Tierney, even with 50% retention, is worth a 3rd at most, and I'd very happy with Dorion if he was able to get that much.

So remove Robertson to make it more fair (unless the Rangers have zero faith in him)

Could live with the 1st, 2nd, and Krav for Chykrun….but that breaks down to Othmann and Miller for Kessel with retained salary….which is a fireable offense. I wouldn’t move Miller in a Chyk deal…and While virtually nobody is completely untouchable, I’d hold onto Othmann as tight as they seem to be holding onto Schneider…dude is a work horse in the making.

Im completely against the trade as its posted here, but Im not against a swap of Miller+ for Chychrun. Chychrun is better than Miller at almost the same age. Miller has exhibited some holes in his game that I would have hoped he would have closed but hes still doing.

By keeping Miller, he goes to 3rd pair for this year’s playoff run…beyond that he could be kept there to continue developing (don’t forget he became a Dman just a year or so before draft- so still lots to learn)…..or he can be moved- preferably for a stud C prospect- with Jones replacing him on 3rd pair…I’m all for this option- just don’t think they do it this year- which leaves Nemeth on 3rd pair….or a rental they probably have to overpay for.

I get all that, but Im not sure if putting Miller with a rookie defenseman is a good idea as you have one kid who just got here and another kid whos still figuring it out. Also, Miller is due for an extension next year and Im not sure if we can financially handle resigning him, and having Chychrun and whatever else they plan on doing. As far as a rental, the only one I want them to pursue is De Haan, everyone else is out of our budget.

Good points…for sure with Chyk aboard the Cap dynamic gets more difficult to manage…in the end one or a few of the young guys aren’t going to be able to get paid by NYR- so might as well choose wisely who to move and extract max value…btw- do like the De Haan scenario if the deal makes sense- but I wouldn’t dismiss Miller on 3rd pair- I mean right now Schneider is trying to adjust to the NHL while partnered with an absolute anchor!

De Haan wont be expensive, and hes by far better than Nemeth. Getting Chychrun I think means the organization believes Strome has priced us out in an extension, which would also make sense if they make the move for JT Miller as well.

Great job. You traded every decent prospect this team has in the system for a pipe dream shot at a cup. What happens in a year when most of those guys are gone and we’ve got no cheap young players to fill the spots.

Then, we get new prospects. We will always have prospects. We get 7 draft picks every year. And we can always trade older players for more picks and prospects if we need to. But if we are this close to a cup...(and we are that close)....then we should be clearing the cupboard and building up for a playoff run.

The Rangers biggest mistakes were often hanging on to prospects too long. I would hate it if that happened this year.

Look at Chytil. If we traded him a year ago, we could have gotten a huge return. Now maybe a late pick. Or even Nils...his value peaked 6 months ago. And do I need to go down our list of Andersson, McIlrath, etc etc.

Gotta disagree with you here…over the years the Rangers biggest mistakes has involved “bailing” on young talent too soon and/or burning good picks- usually for the purpose of furthering the “win now” philosophy….I’m talking guys like Yandle and St Louis- both good players, but partly because of their acquisitions, our pick and prospect pool was left barren- requiring the rebuild. Also, while they did win in 94, without the moves made- maybe they wouldn’t have won….but maybe with some of the players moved they would have contended anyway- and maybe had a better chance going forward for a few more Cups!

Other that our lottery picks, most of our prospects are guys who come along every year. We will just replace them. We have to win now while our core is still in their prime.

Just look at our RD. We have Fox, Trouba locked up for years. Why should we be keeping Schneider and Lundqvist? We also have one of the best pipelines in the NHL (if not the best). Might as well use it for something...like improving our team for a cup run.

Hate to break this to you….but NYR are not ready to win now…they have a few holes in the roster and several players (LaF, Chytl, Kakko, Gaut, Miller…to name a few) who are still not THERE yet in terms of being a contender like COL, VGN, CAR, TBL, FLA, or even StL.

I’m all for making some small moves- involving a 3rd or 4th and/or a mid prospect (who probably doesn’t have an NHL path with NYR) for a rental or 2….but if looking to move someone like Nils, Chytl, Jones, Barron, or Robertson- they better be getting back either a building block (like Chyk) or 1st and/or 2nd round picks- so they can land that next set of prospects you say come every year.

The goal shouldn’t be 1 cup run…but several into the foreseeable future
