I don't think they would be. Murphy's new deal doesn't kick in until next year and I don't think retention can carry over multiple contracts.

With Murphy's extension, I think it takes him off the table. For 1, he's definitely not a 4.4 million dollar defenceman and secondly Chicago won't retain for 4 seasons after this one.

yes he is, Murphy could've pushed for 5 million or even 5.5, Murphy has one of the best shutdown games in the league and the contract is an absolute steal. Shows that you don't watch any hawks games at all.
