Price has a $10.5M deal until 2026 with a NMC. That contract is close to untradeable (if it's not someone like Vasy) without considerable retention. And $1M is not that. Additionally, he hasn't been good in 3 of the last 4 regular seasons. And he's 34 years old and likely won't play this season.

Chiarot will land at least a 1st and 3rd, price is not just returning a 1st. He gets a 1st, a former 1st round pick that worthy of that selection (ex. Bourgault), a B goalie prospect ( konovalov)
And a 2nd or a B forward/defense prospect. So in this package of chiarot and price and I would add a 3rd, the Habs should get: Broberg, 1st, bourgault, konovalov, Lavoie. That's the price

He had a great playoff one and showed that he still has some elite play left in him, but he also showed he cant take on a heavy load during the season which mean any team landing him will still want a decent backup on top of that. Most competitive teams could never have 14mil in goalies like the habs did last year because they have legit star forwards to pay which we've never had to deal with.

At best price may have another year or two left in him where he could perform while enough to be worth close to a 7mil cap hit for someone, but your perceived value that he would bring in a trade is way off in my book. Goalie's on worse teams have been better than him. All stats say he hasn't been good (irrespective of the Habs in general). The Habs weren't "atrocious" in 19/20 and 20/21. They were pretty bad in 17/18. But Price wasn't bad just because of the team in front of him. He himself wasn't good either which stats like his -0.618 GSAx/60 show.
