Don’t think that’ll do it.
ARI has reportedly been looking at Lundell from FLA, so it’s likely Turcotte will be the target from LA

Not good enough. Almost every team in the league would be willing to part with something like that for Chychrun. The price tag would be more like Turcotte + 2022 1st + 2023 1st

FLA doesn't own their pick anymore so I doubt they're in the hunt. Turcotte? I think LAK would be fine with that, he is replaceable. They can offer anything, but would not spend too much if not necesserely.

Apparently one team made an offer with 2 players (1st round calibers) and 1st round pick. I doubt Turcotte is "player" at this stage, probably still more prospect. Sure, LAK can upgrade their offer if they need to. Majority of teams can't.

I think the reported 2 players could also be prospects. They're probably just referring to players as people who have been drafted and are in the organization regardless of whether they're currently in the NHL or not. Arizona obviously wants the youngest assets they can get given they're in for a long rebuild.

As you yourself point out, Los Angeles is weak at LD, which is why they're so interested in Chychrun. The only two NHL-quality LDs under contract for next season are Anderson and Bjornfot, so it makes little sense for LA to send Arizona one of them back in a Chychrun trade. If we include any defenseman in a deal with the Coyotes, it will probably be one of Sean Walker, Helge Grans or Jordan Spence.

Arizona currently has only 2 -- two! -- forwards under contract for next season plus the moribund Andrew Ladd (who will cost them a draft pick if he does play), so I can see them getting some warm NHL bodies in addition to prospects from us.

Yes, one can be a prospect and one player. Turcotte is about to burn his 1st year of ELC, Bjornfot is "veteran". Both Turcotte and Bjornfot are from 2019 draft class. I think LAK are willing to part ways with Clarke, their right side is strong. But why would they if they don't have to? They can offer anything, not many teams can say that. It starts with offer, it continues with negotiations.

Sure, LAK can send 2 forwards. But beside Chychrun is ARI thin on LD, so either Bjornfot or Anderson make sense to me. I am sure LAK would be fine (or would prefer) with 2F+1D offer, but ARI wants that 1st round pick.

Turcotte (or Kupari) and the 2022 first are givens for the Kings offer.

Arizona is even thinner at RD, so I don't think that not getting one of Anderson or Bjornfot is going to be a dealbreaker.

If I am Rob Blake, I would rather give away Bjornfot than Grans. LAK's defense is small and soft. I am old-school type, you win with big defense. Anderson and Bjornfot are smaller (and without offensive upside). Grans is the only LAK's prospect who is 6ft3. Package Kupari+Clarke would also be acceptable for both sides. LAK wasn't that high on Clarke, they wanted Edvinsson and took only available D-man left (in that range).
LAK must be on Chychrun. They can offer much, but they won't if they don't have to.

With Doughty and Durzi on the right, LA doesn't need more than one offensive LD (Chychrun). And guys like Torey Krug and Jared Spurgeon have shown that smaller defensemen aren't necessarily detrimental. My point remains --- we can afford to trade one of Walker, Grans or Spence even if he is better than Bjornfot; we really can't afford to fill one LD hole while creating another.

Welcome to CapFriendly, by the way!

I wouldn't call Bjornfot big hole. His TOI in last 5 games: 15:11, 13:30, 19:01, 13:48, 11:00. That's with Edler out. Chychrun + Anderson + veteran D (Edler?) sounds fine for me for 2022/23.
I agree, there is a place for smaller defensemen. But for maximum 2 of the 6. Look at the rosters of last Cup championship teams in the past several years.
