Not an easy spot for the Flames to be in.

They can look at Hertl or Giroux, but both players have a large say in where they go. It's likely not Calgary.

Toffoli feels very possible. Although I don't see the Flames moving Backlund.

What the Flames should try before making any moves is fixing their bottom 6 with prospects. Pelletier/Ruzicka/Gawdin/Phillips can't be any worse than what Lewis/Richardson/Pitlick/Ritchie have brought, which is almost nothing

i only wanna trade Backlund cuz he's been bad this year. Low emotion and cant hit the net. Trade him while he still has some value.

Flames are likely stuck with him. Then offence has fallen off. Even though he's still solid defensively, there won't be much, if any interest in a 32yr old making over 5

Habs wouldn’t want a 32 year old. Doesn’t work with the rebuild

Easy no from habs. Why do we want a 32 year old centre when we have Suzuki and Dvorak right now, and are most likely going to draft one of Wright, Savoie or Cooley…let alone the idea that we are rebuilding…

Habs can take on an expiring Pitlick/Gudbranson/Zadorov to accommodate the cap, but Backlund doesn't fit the timeline. Calgary shouldn't move him either.

I'll go with all of the comments here, but Montreal is looking for Futures, I don't see Montreal having any interest in him.

I think he's had a mediocre stretch of games, but hasnt been that bad. I think the Flames need to find a true 2C because Backlund operates well as a 3C. All this to say that MTL would decline since they would want younger players.
