If miss the playoffs I suspect a big move will follow which I really don’t think this roster needs. Consistent average goaltending will correct a large chunk of the flaws with roster.

I don’t think that goaltending tandem is good enough to be infront of that defense group.

Barrie and Bouchard are good offensive dmen but the defensive side of their game is lacking. Barrie’s won’t improve anymore but Bouchards can still develop.

The ghost of Duncan Keith’s career shouldnt be a 2nd pairing dman on a good team.

Ceci is fine as a 3rd pairing albeit an expensive one.

Broberg has no real NhL experience but he’s ready for it but I’m not sure what to expect pairing him with Ceci.

You're trading your first for a 14th forward? There's got to be a cheaper way to create a little cap space.

Can't give up a mid-round first in a salary dump and run this back as your solution. Also doubt Smith wants to go end his career on a tanking team... he doesn't have formal trade protection but could retire prior to trade leaving the Oilers with his cap hit.
