The Chiarot trade is about right, but Ritchie is gonna cost more than 4th to get rid of.

Most the Leafs should do but if the Habs ask for a second, Dubas hangs up the phone

valuewise its fair. but i think a part of the reason why chiarot will be traded is to free up a spot on defense. MTL currently has 9 NHL caliber dmen (Romanov Petry Chiarot Savard Kulak Wideman Clague Niku Edmundson) and need to get rid of at least two (Chiarot & Kulak). adding dermott to the trade doesnt help

but some gm will be an idiot and pay a first for chiarot so that offer wont get you chiarot

Tha habs arent going to move him to the leafs for that deal. If no other team makes an offer i still dont think the habs would agree to that deal.

In the East there are is big distinction between the top 8 and non playoff teams. The West is little more crowded but by TDL I think the non playoff contenders will be quite visible.
IMO there are gonna be plenty of sellers this TDL, resulting in lower returns for many of the upcoming UFAs.

I think a 2nd (given that it *should* be late) is reasonable, especially with retention, but yeah, if you can't get it done for that, there's other (better) options that should be cheaper.

You absolutely should not be giving up a 1st for a quarter of a season of Ben Chiarot, especially when you know you can't afford to re-sign him (Similar situation in Edmonton). Yeah, maybe he raises the floor for your d-core, but 20 or so games doesn't come close to equally essentially 1/3rd of the Chychrun asking price.

if thats the case then who are the clear visible LD that are expected to be available at the deadline? Outside of Giordano i havent seen any others that would be ahead of Chiarot.

It's probably outbid by some other team. But remember the Leafs were very interested in Chiarot when he was a UFA, the interest could still be there.

Ya hughes hangs up pretty quickly. Dermitt is a negative calue asset and they can easily get better than a 3rd.

Then they end up with Jamie Oleksiak on the Stars last year. No team is drastically disappointed to hold onto their first and heave a shot at Chiarot in the off season. It would however be a mistake for the Habs I think,

I mean, Habs fans think the Habs can maybe get a 1st because pretty much every insider said they could get a 1st. But Dermott and a 3rd probably doesn't warrant a response more than "lol, try again" given the reported interest from other teams. Especially since its the Leafs.
