I am morally opposed to trading for Giordano. i also believe seattle would want a first rounder for him.

I think the ask is a first round pick. lavoie is in there to pay for retention.

I would trade foegele+ for debrusk but not Yamo.

Broberg for a rental ouch. If they were willing to trade broberg they could have chychrun.

Nobody in the league will give a first round for Georgiev so the ask is irrelevant. If anything the closest comparable would be Vanacek getting traded back to Washington for a 2nd. And the "retention" is for 25% of the season... you'd be more likely to retain 50% to get cap hits close to even than give a prospect to even it out.

They can ask whatever they want. He’s on OK backup worth a 3rd.

Huge overpayment on both the Philly and Rangers deals.
- I like Braun and I know you included a 1st, but Broberg has way more value to the oilers than that package. Braun is best served on a bottom pairing and maybe a 2nd pairing shutdown role. He’s also a UFA. The oilers have spent a few years already developing Broberg and he’ll play a key role on this team. The only player I see him being moved for is like a Chrychrun.
- Georgiev has far from impressive numbers playing in a strong Rangers team. He also is unlikely to be qualified in the offseason from what I’ve seen. A 1st and good prospect is just way too much

I personally don’t like the Bruins deal. Value may not be horrible. But Foegele and Yamomoto have arguably been the oilers hardest working forwards for the oilers. They are also both on really cheap deals. DeBrusk isn’t worth his qualifying offer and Folignos grit would be nice, but he isn’t really producing enough to justify his cap hit.

The only reason I kind of am interested in that Seattle deal is that it gets rid of Kassian. I like Barrie but would consider this. Would it work if you swapped Gio for Soucy and maybe a player like Appleone? I just don’t think Gio is any good anymore and Soucy would fit in nicely in this lineup. Gio probably still has some perceived value so Seattle could still deal him to a contender for a decent pick.

You do realize that the Flyers 1st round pick is likely to be in the top 10 of the draft, right? Pretty sure Chuck Fletcher hangs up on you and trades Braun somewhere else for a pick.

Broberg was a number 8 Pick and he's just about ready to contribute in the NHL so if you want a quick rebuild it somewhat makes sense. Probably doesnt make sense for anybody thoughas Edmonton's need is at defence.

Foegele is a good 3rd liner and under contract. DeBrusk is a meh 3rd liner (doesn't backcheck, isn't good defensively - remember when he got walked by Cody Ceci?) and will be a UFA this summer (ain't nobody gonna qualify him). I wouldn't trade Foegele for DeBrusk 1-for-1.

Flyers have no interest in trading a pick that will be top 10 maybe even top 5. Why would we do that when we could get someone like Jiriček or Nemec who are better prospects and trade Braun for something. Broberg is a solid defensive prospect but why not just use the draft

Yeah, that's a crazy trade. Still doesn't make sense for the Oilers to do it though, as Broberg is nearly NHL ready (February? March?) while that pick will likely take a couple more years. Doesn't make sense for either team.

Georgiev isn’t really an upgrade. He’s doing poorly on a strong rangers team where their main goalie is putting up vezina quality numbers. It’s not the defense infront of Georgiev that’s failing him. His numbers have gotten worse every single season. Right now he’s sitting at .902 sv%. His nhl career sv% is .910 in 114 games. Koskinen’s is .906 in 145 games.

There is nothing about our team that will be fixed quickly by adding one almost-NHL-ready defender. We need to increase our number of picks, draft well, and be methodical. And there is no way I trade the pick without lottery protections.
