I don't think that's the package that will get a Miller deal done. By trading Miller at the deadline we are acknowledging our window is not in the next two seasons and getting Strome in return contradicts that statement. Ulterior motive in trading Miller is needing the cap space to extend Boeser this offseason and Horvat+others in the near future, which Strome would complicate even further.

We would be in cap hell soon but besides that these trades make sense and we would be a force, realistically I hope we don't go crazy because the group we have has a ton of chemistry and could all go together

Well it sure makes a cap dilemma next season when Zibs and Fox get 14m in raises.
Worried about beating Florida or Tampa? Start with beating two of the following three......Carolina, Washington and Pittsburg.

You aren't getting Miller for that. Just because the Rangers traded him for pennies doesn't mean the Canucks will

Idk its a pretty good deal, Strome is solid, Chytil could become a solid player + a first. I think its quite clear your window isn't the next 2 years considering your in 7th place in the absolute worst division in hockey. If you don't want Strome flip him.

And for the rangers idk if the Florida teams will be the problem... Obviously the rangers are good but so are all 8 Eastern playoff teams. NYR are realistically 3rd best in their division... is this the year to blow the futures?

Even though that's not enough, I would never say that package is pennies. tears of joy

I understand and for including Strome in the deal... I could have done a 3 team deal... but who cares!
I think a 1st + Chytil + Strome return ( maybe a Second + a Good prospect) should be enough...
And Yes the Canucks have bigger cap space to play with if they want to keep Boeser & I doubt that Horvat is on the trade block.

Ken ask Gorton if you can make it... you would probably give Drouin, Armia, Byron all half retain!

Yes With all the rumours that NYR are here for big... looking at actual roster and cap salary, they have no space for Lundkvist, Kravs and even Chytil who would ask for more $
Getting a GREAT$$$$ deal in Chychrun and having many more NHL ready good assets like: Barron, Schneider, Jones, Robertson, Othmann, Cuylle....
and at the end don't forget NYR are one of the youngest team in the EAST

I still think that the Florida team are the one to beat... especially the Cats.

Chemistry is the biggest challenge and that's why adding KEY Teamates like Flower... top D player like Chychrun would simply be beneficial... and hopefully JT & Lehkonen would bring there positive spirit playing for big moment

It’s not that Strome isn’t solid…it’s that the reason for moving Miller in the first place is cap concerns regarding others they want to extend…so why trade for Strome- who if they do choose to extend- probably costs more than keeping Miller?
And flipping Strome wouldn’t work out well for Van- knowing Van is in a pinch- the value they’d get back would take a hit…much more sensible to move Miller for prospects and futures which gives the cap room they wanted in the 1st place.

I wasn't saying that Horvat or Boeser are on the trade block, just that they need to be extended during the next two offseasons and the outcome of a Miller trade and other short-term roster decisions will have significant ramifications on our ability to retain these two members of the team's core. I did not consider the possibility of trading Strome, and I don't think he holds enough value on his current expiring deal (essentially a rental) to be a part of the Miller return. Just my opinion though Jim Rutherford may disagree.
