I actually think I might accept that as a hawks fan. Depends honestly on what management thinks our direction is. We should be rebuilding imo, and in that case not doing this trade and getting futures instead, however i'm not sure management agrees. Time will tell

...why are the Penguins taking on Tyler Johnson's contract? He's not worth that much normally and is coming off the Jack Eichel surgery.

Moving Zucker to clear up cap space next year =Good

Using that cap space on a bad contract=bad

He is still a good middle 6 Player and Kubalik is really good so it's the price to get him.

It's interesting the kubalik and Kap swap. Kubs and Kap are different players for sure, but beyond Kap being a year younger, I guess this would only make sense if each team sees the type of player being acquired as a better fit for the team need. Kubs being a goal scorer and sniper, Kap being a speedy north south transition winger.

What is Kap's qualifying offer?

Kubalik is ok but not worth nearly the price in cap space in this case. It's about opportunity cost. This type of trade screws them in the offseason.
