As a bruins fan i would do it in a heartbeat. There would have to be a third team involved to launder some cap space through.

The thing is, if the oilers do this today, McDavid asks for a trade tomorrow.

I think you would want a better prospect than Vaakanainen I think he is damaged good at this point I would rather have Fabian Lysell or trade with another and get a sure fire prospect. Also I don't think trading Draisaitl is a good idea for the Oilers I would clear up the management first and then try to form a good Defence core.

Draisaitl is on a bargain contract and is easy to find wingers for. He's worth his weight in gold nothing is ever enough.

Vaak has played very well this season. Small sample size, but he's shown what he can do.

Still he won't be a first pairng Dman and if I'm the Oilers In want some asset to potentially turn out to be an elite player espicially on the wing or on Defence. Well very much so on defence they got no elite defenceman right now and maybe Bouchard can develop into that.

They need a right pairing defenseman. Their left is just okay. That stated, even without Vaak being elite, there's no way Edmonton moves Draisaitl.

I would think in any Draisaitl trade at least one elite and cost controlled top line forward has to be coming back, like a Tkachuk, Ehlers type player

Draisaitl weighs 208 lbs, gold is trading at 1675/oz….so he is worth $5.6 million.

In fairness, vaakanainen has gotten an opportunity lately. It’s kind of funny how the NHL works. He was up because of some covid stuff, and made one of the worst turnovers I’ve ever seen right in front of his own net. I thought that was essentially it for him in Boston. However, a few minutes later, John Moore got hurt. Vaakanainen played more, and he looked good. Really good. So much so that in six of the last seven games he’s gotten north of 20 minutes. Two of them have been north of 23 (i don’t think either were OT, not like he would see the ice in OT anyhow). Sometimes all a player needs is a break, and he may have gotten his. Of course, too soon to tell, but I think everyone in Boston is surprised and impressed. Frankly, I thought this would happen a lot sooner. A couple years ago he came up, played great, and then took a flying elbow in the face from some senator, and the concussion seemed to de-rail him. Who knows, but I don’t think he’s a throw in as of right now.

If, I'm the Oilers, I really look at that deal.
If you believe Swayman and Vaahakain are long term NHLer, with years of control.
DeBrusk is in the trade to make the cap work....but the Oilers may not even want to qualify him next summer.
So the trade going into 22/23 is two good pieces totalling about 2m.. The there is 7 or 8 million to fill out your roster....admitting no into the lineup Draisaitl. And hope two of three picks are solid NHLers with years of control.
Oilers are kinda cap crunched next year, so no real improvements can be made to their team., so do Oilers want to struggle to make the playoffs, and then in summer of 2023....just two more years of Leon.

What are you doing on capfriendly with that crystal ball of yours? You should have hit the powerball about six times by now.

Kidding aside, particularly with d men, it takes a while. Plenty of the top end d men in the league were in this age bracket when they started to break out. I wouldn’t put a floor or a ceiling on Vaakanainen at this point.

I don't think Boston and Edmonton are a match.

Vaak did get OT time. He actually assisted on the game winning goal. I think that's what you meant, but idk.

McDavid is the Mike Trout of the NHL the best player in the world on a mediocre team
