I'd argue that Laine would be a better fit long-term than Giroux.

Better question is why Jake Sanderson on third pair? Guy will be the #1 within a year.

Ya, but we'd have to trade for him and I don't think Ottawa should be giving up their 1st... even if it's going to be around 5-10 and a few years away

Oh, that's just to start the year.. I think 2nd and 3rd pairing will be relatively similar in terms of ice time. Chabot/Zub would still get the lions share
