I think I move McCann to LW and make Kerfoot 3C. We didn't give him much opportunity at C in Pittsburgh

WOW! Best offer I've seen for Severson involving a Leafs trade. Fair value, but I'd rather keep Severson. Good trade though.

Bad for the leafs, not so much value wise but Lilly is exactly what the leafs need moving forward.

The usual way on how to not construct a team. Trading 3 NHL Dmen for two, going into the playoffs Cap situation is worse. Trading high draft picks.

Well, he plays defence on a good team. Leafs will need his term and cap now and in the future.
Now I admit Severson is better. But what has he done for you guys? Eight seasons, four playoffs games, zero points.

My thought is that even though Lilly has upside and good AAV, this is it for this team as constructed. Can’t go out in the first round. Leafs will be playing Florida or Tampa in first and need as much help as they can get.

Why can't the Leafs go out in the first round.? Eight teams are. Leafs have traded away all kinds of futures at TDL....and it's done no good. How do these trades really help the Leafs? McCann gets a third his points on the PP. Is he that much better than Engvall on the Leafs? How do the Leafs qualify McCann this summer at 2.9m? Why is Mayfield a savior over Holl. Trading Dermot and Liljegren so the Leafs play half a season and hopefully a long playoff with six Dmen isn't practical at all.

No it wasn't a slam. I legitimately wanted to know. Sorry should have posed the Q better. I know they took their time with him and he's getting meaningful games. We're a mess, not sure Severson would want to stay. We probably come out of our funk in his walk year. Thx

Thanks for the clarification. Yes Severson is good, but the Leafs aren't really in cap situation where they just keep on obtaining short term veterans and giving up young cheap assets. Same with obtaining McCann over Engvall (and more). Yes McCann is better though I wonder how much since Engvall is playing well in his defensive role. Then how to the Leafs take this additional cap next season.
Liljegren has looked good when he was playing regularly. Then he went on and off the Covid list, and the Leafs had big stretch on no games due to Covid, and Liljegren play declined.
We're find out as the season progresses.....and a real busy schedule after the February 6, but I think the Leafs seven NHL Dmen are fine, and might be together next season too.
Sure it would nice for upgrades.....but at what cost, and the how to work the cap.
By the way, the Devils are one of few teams with cap in the future. If they spend it wisely and with their young guys on modest contracts, IMO the Devils just might get better really soon.

Seems pretty harsh
Devils were rebuilding for most of the time Severson was here
And saying he has 0 points in 4 playoff games isn't a good argument
He's been a great top 4 dman in his time as a Devil
