-Sure, why not on Lehk. Taking on the likely raise that he'll get through arb, it pretty much means they'll lose Strome, but giver New York. (Side note: Shesterkin is absolutely the Vezina winner this year)
-Whatever on Perreault.
-Meh for Chiarot...Washington, Florida and New York are really the only 3 where it makes *any* sort of sense to spend a 1st for Chiarot (Meaning he'll actually play in their top 4). Assuming they won't be involved in Chychrun (I'd guess Florida/NYR would be), and if they miss out on Hampus, Giordano, why not. I mean, I wouldn't trade a 1st for him, but sure.
-Kulak for a 3rd? Whatever I guess...but I feel like Kulikov for a 4th last year is yet another example of GM's not giving 2 flying f*cks about shutdown LD's...
-That seems like a really, really bad move for Dallas. They open up cap space this offseason after getting of declining players, and then trade their top prospect and a 2nd for a declining player on a massive deal? No thanks.

I am with you on all of it, though how is Gallagher declining? And Dallas still wants to compete, I doubt they will just leave all that cap space open. They will want to fill it and filling it with a 30 goal scorer is never a bad idea. A move for a veteran is something they are known for doing many times over. Though they usually trade or sign the 32-35 year olds. This time they get a 29 year old.

I swear I’m a broken clock now, with all these Chiarot to DC trades.

Chiarot has no place in DC to justify that return. Fehervary and Orlov would automatically play over him, leaving him battling for the 3LD with TvR. A 3LD is not worth a 1st rounder for a team that has a less than optimal prospect pool, especially with Protas, Leason, and McMichael all getting NHL minutes this year.

Soon to be 30 year old, putting up the worst numbers of his career across the board after sustaining a number of injuries over the past number of years...certainly fits with the aging charts.

Don't get me wrong, I like Gally, and would love to have a guy like that on my team. But, not at that cost, or at that AAV. When you put up stats like that in year 1 of a potentially albatross contract, regardless of how your team is performing, there's not typically a lot of buyers that come along.

Re: Jim Nill-Sure, he typically spends heavily on veterans, but it's not typically through the trade market. The last time he made a deal for a 30+ year old fwd with term left was in 2014 when he acquired Spezza. Have to imagine that seeing that seeing the numbers plummet over his 4 years there probably has something to do with it.

C’mon man you can’t say “regardless of how the team is doing” no that is very important. He started the season with Evans our 4th line centre, lost his linemates in the offseason, got covid, watched all the vets on the team either leave in free agency retire or not show up due to family/medical reasons. Nobody is putting any stock into this season especially for a guy who is 29, not 34,35,36, etc. I’m glad you at least acknowledge that Nill is known for snagging his vets.he’s 29/30 his contract is for 5 more years and its done in his 34 year old season. I believe Gally has at least 2-3 more years left in him, could he fall off a cliff at around 32? Sure. But that could’ve happened to Suter who he just signed to a 4 year deal at 35 years old, Bishop at 33, Pavelski at 35 and so on. He is known for this and I’m not saying I would make this deal and I know you wouldn’t, but GM’s sacrifice the future for the short term all the time. It’s tough to be unbiased from a fans point of view. As fans were thinking “my god what is this guy going to look like in 3 years” the GM is thinking “I might not have a job in 3 years I need to win.” I think it’s likely a trade like this happens, it might not. Habs take back a useless player and bad contract in Khudobin that they would otherwise have to buy out if they want to utilize all of their space. And the prospect doesn’t have to be Bourque although he’s good, he isn’t a world beater or anything.

Hey man I’m a working clock just spinning the hand on whatever team is rumoured to be interested. You’re probably right, you would know better than me but you can pretty much substitute Washington for any of the other teams who are reportedly interested.

Honestly don’t know much about him, but if Gorton wants him I am confident it’s for good reason seeing as how he drafted him.

Switch Bourque to Dellandrea and you might have a deal, but as long as it’s Bourque Stars decline. He’s one of our most untouchable prospects.

Then do you think they would upgrade the 2nd to a top 10 protected first in 2023?

I’m not too sure, but I’d prefer that over Bourque and a 2nd.

Don’t get me wrong I love Gallagher as a player, he’s someone Dallas could really need if they want to make a push for the cup. His effort would really help since at times there’s players who back-checking just isn’t a priority for them. The only problem is cap space, I’m not sure if they can afford him in the long run with players like Hintz, Robertson, Gurianov, Oettinger all expiring soon.

If Dallas keeps on winning I can maybe see it happening, it all depends on how the cards fold.

Yep, the value seems fair for what's reported.

I'm not really angry at you for picking DC, more just tired of seeing the same trade over and over on the website. Nothing against you personally.

Yeah I’m not too sure about their long term cap outlook but I know with Pavelski possibly leaving (or maybe taking a pay cut) Radulov gone, Bishop retiring and Klingberg possibly getting moved and not returning they will have a ton of cap space this offseason. Plus I have the Habs taking back Khudobin’s 3.3 mill.
