Description

laf-mika-kreider was a great line to start the season and laf could benefit with more icetime
bread-strome-kakko has worked before so do it again
Othmann-barron-goodrow: othmann is a goal scoring machine in the ohl and might make the playoff roster like kreider did in the 2010s, barron has a 65% faceoff percentage which is huge for playoffs, goodrow is the playoff performer and veteran for these young guys who plays hard and hit hard while also getting points
Lehkonen-rooney-reeves: hard playing 4th line that rivals that of any in the league. big hitters, hard workers, chip in once or twice

lindy-fox: best dpair in the nhl with the best defenseman
Miller-trouba: Stick with the solid pairs. these guys know eachothers game and help eachother
Chairot-Schneider/Chairot-Lundkvist/Chairot-Jones/Jones-Schneider/Jones-Lundkvist/Lundkvist-Schneider: Mix and match the bottom 4 until you figure out the best pair (Note* Jones and Lundkvist have played both sides before)

Shesty-Georgiev: vezina caliber goalie and possibly goalie of the year; and solid backup

Extras: Gauthier,Nemeth,Blais: Gauthier might find ice time if he starts scoring; nemeth sucks; if blais is fine for playoffs (prob not due to acl), he is most likely to play over othmann

Habs reject. Chiarot and lehkonen are both rumoured to be getting 1st. I wouldn’t want chytil and kravtsov as the centrepiece. Either 1sts or Schneider/lundqvist.

Totally understand if you say no but that’s the price

chairot may be the 1d on montreal, but on any other team hes like a 4-5 best defenseman. if a 4-5 gets a 1st, then id be shocked. chairot has been rumored for kravy so i just did it so they are 1 for 1. Lehkonen is worth around a 2nd +4th so chytil (who is a middle 6 center whos younger) a 4th and 6th for lehkonen and a 3rd feels pretty fair. but rangers bias so idk

I'm not a fan of spending real assets to get Chiarot- not a top 4 Dman on most good teams, and he'd be a rental anyway...plus- NYR have in house solutions to the Nemeth problem that don't cost anything (Jones, Reunanen)...both would be an instant upgrade- and at very least either would showcase to build trade value.

Also, would not rush Othmann along...guy is killing it in OHL- but that's a far cry from NHL....let him start next year in Hartford then take it from there.

As far as the lineup: top 6 looks good...with the Chiarot comment above-I'd scrap that MTL deal. Instead, bring Kravtsov back after KHL season...whatever he and Drury have to do to get past their spat...both guys need each other!! Anyway- make a Chytl-Barron-Krav 3rd line. And then a Goodrow-Rooney-Reaves 4th line. I know Gallant would trust this "kids" line...so they'd get sheltered minutes. If this line (getting mainly O zone starts) succeeds then this team could be in for a deep run. If it doesn't go well, then maybe at least Krav gets to showcase himself and enable Drury to make a move.

I think you have to give up a little more value and to remove the third from the Canadians. However, this is the direction that the rangers should be going in instead of getting Chychryn.

Not trying to totally dismiss the idea...but just realize (if I remember correctly) 2012 was a few years out from Kreider being drafted- and he was always a physical specimen to begin with. I believe one of the "knocks" on Othmann right now is he still needs to fill out his frame...let the guy keep growing!...I just don't want to rush him and end up stunting his development- Rangers know that story too well!

Oathmann is just 19 so he wont be eligible to play full time in the AHL next year either, so he's likely headed back to the OHL for another year or maybe Switzerland, hope they don't rush him to the NHL, that has not worked out at the forward position as of yet for the Rangers over the last 5 years.

Kreider was 20 turning 21 when he got signed & added to that 2012 postseason run after his BC season ended & a more developed product than Oathmann is now.

Habs fan here. Both Chytil and Kravstov are young former 1st round picks so technically Habs would be getting what they asked for, I like it. I'd just remove the picks and make it a 2 for 2 deal.

And serevalli has said that Lehkonen is the “Coleman” of this year who got a 1st plus prospects. I’d be a little more surprised about the Lehkonen one getting a 1st , but chiarot im pretty sure will. Teams saw what he did in the last 2 playoffs.
