no thanks to bringing Bear back, and Barrie is an overpayment for Debrusk.

DeBrusk will be a UFA in the summer. Not a chance in 100 that Boston qualifies him.

And anyhow, he's not the type of player Edmonton should be targeting. They need wingers who are willing to back check and play a 2-way game. DeBrusk can't / won't.

When he got walked by Cody Ceci earlier this year I hoped Oilers fans would finally understand why he gets healthy scratched, but I guess not.

Barrie is a redundancy and his money is best spent elsewhere. IMO EDM will need to add a 2nd - 3rd pair RHD, a Starting Goalie to split duty with either Skinner or Smith, or a top 9 LW.
Obviously I chose to turn Barrie into a top 9 LW while also saving $1.5M in cap

I liked Bear and I feel with some defensive growth he would be a nice fit ..... again

Debrusk is just an example of what I feel EDM needs to do with Barrie, whether Jake is the right player or not is a fair debate.

Canes pass. There was an interesting involving Barrie and this years 1st from EDM for Bear and Raanta, which I think is a lot better of a deal than this. Value-wise, this just isn't in the ballpark.

I'm tired of the Bear drama. He called everyone out when he left and went to the media because his coach benched him the last few minutes of the game for making a stupid play. That same coach played him for 20 games where he should have been scratched and Bouchard should have been playing. I hope he realizes this stuff from the press box on another team.

Boston doesn't touch that. For anyone saying DeBrusk doesn't play a two way game, you should actually watch him play. He's been solid in the two way game and even plays on our PK.

I personally would. Over his last 10 games he's started to look like the JDB from earlier in his career. He's got 5pts in his last 10 games and could have easy had another 2-3pts. He's breaking up plays, and pressuring defenses trying to breakout of the zone and it looks like he's back to playing his game.
