Retool Part 2

Created by: arafay
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 26, 2022
Published: Jan. 26, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jets get 10 oa (based on their current spot), the jets draft David Jiricek. At 25 oa, the jets draft Jimmy Snuggerud.

Boston trade is looking towards getting them a top LD and the jets making some room for heinola. The jets take on Moore to free some cap space off Boston and they send Vesalainen for a fresh start.

Hopefully, as the year progresses and the jets are in the playoff conversation, they can look into getting a guy like severson in as well. Maybe a demelo for severson swap (with the jets adding of course).

The Boston trade is bad for the Jets, but other than that I guess it's not too bad.

I think that Boston would have to add in a decent pick, maybe a 2nd

I think Jiricek is a good pick for this team because we need that #1RD but I really like the option to go Tucker Robertson or Connor Geekie. Have the top 6 of the future be KC-PLD-Perfetti and Ehlers-Geekie/Robertson-Chaz Lucius. I would love to have the Manitoba kid Geekie on the team but I have heard a lot in the last month about tucker Roberson and how his ceiling is a 1st line centre and a great 200 for player.

Of the jets have a chance to take jiricek, they should not pass on it. Heinola projects to be top pair guy and maybe even a number 1. However, adding Jiricek not only locks down the rd long term with him and pionk, but also gives the jets some flexibility in case heinola doesn’t reach the level many think he can.

Also, I have no interest in going after yet another forward since we have rashevsky, Lucius, chibrikov, snuggerud, and poulin after what I have done. I don’t see the point in going after another forward.

Also, we have a dynamic 1c. His name is Mark Schiefele. We aren’t moving him after 1 bad season in which he’s still not terrible.

Im not saying that we move Schiefele this year but on the last year of his deal, at the deadline, if the jets are not in a playoff spot they should look at moving him and get some assets.
