The Strome for Kravtsov is a bit of risk for us due to Strome's play improving a lot in recent time. Kravtsov is yet to be proven in NA.

I think our preference for CDH would be an offensive player in place of Hajek but value doesn't seem so far off.

Honestly can't see VAN trading Horvat, let alone retaining salary,

I think Van will move Horvat but it might not be until next year's deadline. Agree I don't see them retaining for the remainder of this year and next though.

When it comes down to trading with the Rangers, whether its Miller or Horvat, we need retention for next year otherwise I just dont see it happening.

VAN is not moving Horvat. Miller will be the first one to go.

I went through the numbers and the Rangers could re-sign Blais, Kakko, and Strome even with Miller/Horvat but it would be less than ideal and super tight to the cap. Definitely a lot more doable for the Rangers if they can at least get enough retention to make it a 4mil cap hit. I don't think Rutherford will retain but maybe this is one of those deals where a 3rd team gets involved for retention.

What are the extensions you gave them?

You would have to move out Nemeth and Georgiev and replace them with 750k replacement level guys. I also had Chytil in the Miller deal so his cap is gone. Leaves Rangers with roughly 8.8m for the three of them. Blais has been hurt so you can likely get him on a 1yr deal at the same 1.5m price tag. Strome would have to take a RNH type deal where he's given term for lower cap hit, RNH is 8x5.125 so let's assume the same for Strome. Leaving you about 2.1m to bridge Kakko which in a crunch could probably be done on a 1yr bridge. This also leaves very limited room for call ups etc. Like I said it is not ideal at all but it is possible.

Im not sure if Strome goes for that, but it would be nice to keep him around. He clearly has some chemistry with the guys here and they love him.

I think it's possible he would go for that. He's likely looking at 6yrs 6.5mil ball park in UFA. I could see him taking less for those extra 2 yrs of security, gets to play with a guy he has chemistry with, and gets to live in New York. Those are pretty attractive things to a player. Not a guarantee but wouldn't surprise me either regardless of whether they add another player or not.
