JFC! Canucks aren't looking to move Dickinson for the last time, and it's already been made clear they aren't trading high draft picks. Such an overpay for Lawson Crouse

I don't mind the rest of the trades though

Hold onto schenn for the Rangers and just throw in an extra bag of pucks or something. About the same value

We do not need Lawson Crouse, especially for a first round pick. He has a career high of 25 points…

No, just because he had one off night doesn't mean immediately throw him out the door. Can't be this reactionary to succeed in this type of business

We absolutely should be looking to move Dickinson and not because he had one off night but because he's too expensive to not be playing C, he doesn't fit with the Canucks new staff wanting a fast team, he's good defensive forward but an absolute black hole offensively.

We shouldn't pay to move him but if we can't find a trade partner I wouldn't be shocked to see him be bought out this summer to create cap room. His buyout is very team friendly.

I agree, just not in that trade. Giving up a 1st for Crouse seems like a wasted 1st to me.

Its a good point. I didn't realise Dickinson's contract was so buy out friendly, as per mediumyeet's comment. I would still be interested in securing Crouse but without Dickinson in the deal he would cost a lot less than a 1st. Cheers.

Maybe Dallas would take him back?

He's only 24 years old and on pace for 40 pts this season, on a tire fire of a team. 6'4", 220 lb, fights, plays special teams. I think he's exactly the kind of player we need. Thinking now be better to buy out Dickinson and get Crouse for much less than a late 1st.

Maybe. But the problem is he's not worth half his contract and he's signed for two more seasons. I can't see anyone trading for him without a sweetener. The buy out option is a pretty good one.

Appreciate the feedback.

Where did you hear Canucks say they are not trading high draft picks? I believe the quote was, Rutherford: "I'll say the obvious, we need to get better in certain places to be a consistent playoff team and contender. Because of that, if we make trades it will be for draft picks and younger players so we can bring this team together."

IMO Crouse is a young player that falls into the category of what we need to be a playoff team.

Fair, I just don't know that Vancouver has the assets that Arizona wants for Crouse

We can't keep buying out players, and who are you to judge whether or not Dickinson is too expensive to not be playing center. That's a very short-sighted take. Dickinson will easily fetch a 3rd rounder just like what we paid to get him

No, he's worth at least 3/4 of his contract right now and he deserves a chance to bounce back next season, Vancouver doesn't have to pay to get rid of him or any of their players except Ekman-Larsson who has a NMC

I'm a reasonable fan that realizes 2.65 million is too much to pay someone to be a 4th line winger that provides 0 offense. Yes we have to stop buying players out but we also need to clean up the mess that Benning left. If Allvin can find a trade partner for Dickinson he will do it if not buyout is a good option. If Dickinson was on an expiring deal he would be easy to move but 2 more years for an overpaid bottom 6 guy in a flat cap world is tough to move.

Dickinson isn't a 4th line player, that's were you are wrong. Just because he doesn't provide very much offense doesn't mean he isn't still mobile and dynamic enough to be a top 9 forward

Kempny trade is a joke. Why would Washington trade for more cap for longer, not to mention that Hamonic, like Kempny, won't have a place in Washington?

Right. I don't know enough about the Rangers to know Schneider isn't available as a trade piece.

You do that. And when he is still a Ranger after the deadline, what will you do? Admit you were wrong?

My thinking was that this season for just an extra $0.5m WSH get a decent upgrade on Kempny. Then next season WSH will be unlikely to resign Schultz, who is now more a 3rd pairing Dman anyway, which will clear $4m of cap. Next season they will have a gap and Hamonic is a very good defensive 2nd pairing Dman with 1 year left on just a $3m contract, so he's very cost effective for what he brings. WSH right side becomes Carlson, Hamonic, Jensen.

That would not help in this or next year. Kempny will be in the AHL very soon if he isn’t already, and there isn’t a hole for Hamonic. As for next year, with Schultz likely walking, this allows for TVR to go back to his natural right side, and will allow Washinton to start either Johansen or Alexeyev. Hamonic’s contract would likely mean one of Samsonov, Vanecek, or Sprong would have to leave. Hamonic is not a help for the caps in any major way, just a hinderance.
