Brock Nelson for Brendan Perlini + Colorado 1st 2018? or Nelson for NJ 1st 2018 + Col 1st 2018? I think he'd instantly become your teams best / most valuable player and he's young enough to still be in his prime 5 years from now when your team is really ready to go for a cup run.

I could also do a more obscure type trade like the following: Nelson for Pavel Zacha + Pontus Aberg + Esa Lindell. I could swap in McLeod or Roy for Zacha, I could swap in Fischer, Svechnikov , Dal Colle or Perlini for Aberg and I'd probably want to keep Lindell or maybe Haydn Fleury or Madison Bowey could be put in his place. I'm not as huge of a fan of your prospects so it may seem like I'm asking for a lot. Nelson for sure would make a better 1st C for you then Cody Eakin at this point.

I'm not as huge of a fan of your prospects so it may seem like I'm asking for a lot. Nelson for sure would make a better 1st C for you then Cody Eakin at this point.

I mean that's a lot for a 2C, both of the picks you mentioned have a very high chance at being top 5 if not #1

It is a lot, but there's not many 25 and under 3 year consecutive 20 goal scorers who haven't been playing with really good line mates. He's likely getting paired with crap again, but I bet he ends up with a 20 goal season. If JT leaves he will become the 1st C and his production will go up from playing with more talent.

I would need multiple pieces better than Roy on top of him, I only rate him as the value of an early 2nd round pick or so.

I figured this would be a unique opportunity for you to acquire a player who's so proven, yet so young that he would fit into your philosophy of youth and be able to stay in his prime when your team was ready to compete. I don't think you'll get a lot of offers for players like this at this point in the game because they are the highest value (someone who's pretty young, yet producing already) Anyone who's like 18-25 and in the NHL and producing is the height of value league wide. Everyone wants and needs that type of player to emerge as the future leaders and I think everyone is analyzing their own team in their minds and trying to shore up the future as well. Players that are impactful right now, yet will still be impactful 5 years from now are basically the category of most value in this game imo. Brock Nelson is super consistent and dependable, but unfortunately he's not a cheap asset to acquire.

I could do Perlini (lesser replacement player) + Roy (decent prospect with some upside) + Col 1st 2018 (likely top 10 1st rd pick) + Colbourne (cap dump to closer match salaries) for Nelson (Crown Jewel in the deal) + Andrew Poturalski (replacement prospect at C who's a tier down, but more NHL ready) + 2018 Ottawa 3rd (replacement pick 2 tiers down)

I can do something like that where I add some legit assets for the best player in the deal, but I can't do a deal around a complete unknown in Roy. I like him, but more as a 2nd round type prospect.

I can't do that, theres no centerpiece to the deal that's close to Nelson's value. That's like a bunch of parts and pieces for something good, but it doesn't add up to me. I don't get anything back with high end value so I'll just have to keep the player for now and maybe move him to someone else who values him more.

Actually if I were to move Connor I would want a winger that can play now

If I added Pulkkinen, de la rose or Carr, would that help?

I would rather not get Koekkoek, a top 6 winger would be better
