Really? Barron and Lundqvist are both great prospects who have NHL experience. Would probably go straight into your lineup. The 4th pick is for the salary retention.

Our hopes would probably be on owners making an unwise decision, I guess

I understand, but why would we trade Thompson? We need to stop this stupid business of trading our top players, there's nothing good about that.

What is the point of having good players on bad teams? If they had a better team, then keep the good players. Rangers are a better team, so the good players should go there.

What a strange logic. We need more good players to stop being a bad team, we need more Thompson, not less. He is not yet 25 years old and this is his first season when he looks very good and even more so plays in the center. The guy has 28 points in 39 games, we have no reason to trade him for prospects.

The Blues don't even look up from their lunch to reject that. Quality over quantity.

OK, I re-read that and it did not come out the way I wanted. The Sabres have a bunch of really good prospects ages 18-22. Why not add to that group. Because once they start to really improve as team, Tage will be eligible for UFA.

Kravtsov isn't quality? a 1st rounder isn't quality?

But we can add such players in the draft. Thompson is under contract for two more seasons and he's RFA, he's not 27 or 28 so we really don't looking for a trade for him. I don't agree with you, we shouldn't trade our best players, Thompson is still young and he is an important part of the core.

I don't know, is he? Nobody knows with him right now. At best, he's a middle 6-er, but he has a lot of questions surrounding him after the past year. A late 1st is okay, that part is fine. The player part of the package needs a solid upgrade or the offer will get beaten by somebody else. Or they'll just keep him.

Thompson has been our best center this year, and is on a very cheap contract for the next couple years. It would take a very enticing offer to take him of our hands. Barton is 23 and has 1 point in 7 games this year. That is not a great prospect, at 23 those are the stats of a fringe NHLer. Lundkvist is more interesting, but Not worth Thompson.

That SJ trade is very confusing from a NYR perspective, whats in it for the rangers?

Blues say no pretty quickly. While Robertson and a 1st is great, the Blues are in a position to win now, and this trade doesn't do that for them. I don't think Kravtsov turns into anything great at this point, but maybe he has a Radulov type arch to him and fellow Russians in Buch and Barbashev can bring the best out of him.

But I think the Blues would rather get back NHL talent and a 1st. Kaakko, 1st and maybe Robertson if they're retaining half the salary? Problem with that is we need LW and I doubt that NYR would part with Laf just yet.

An inconsistent backup goalie that might one day become a consistent backup goalie.

Laf and Kakko are staying. Any other prospects are fair game.

I'm sure Laf is staying but I wouldn't be so sure on Kakko. But if that's the case I don't see a Tarasenko trade happening.
