Realistically, the Wild would like to hold on to 2/3 of Dumba, Fiala, Greenway next year, so trading both is unlikely. I don't think the Sabres have anything particularly interesting for the Wild, though, since we are looking for an improvement in our 1C/2C

Fair enough, we have some young centers, but another problem is that Dumba UFA in a year.

Wait, but what does Murray have to do with it? Did I trade all of our best prospects and picks?

I don't see Dumba as a good fit for BUF. He's the same player as Risto and can walk after the season as a UFA.

Greenway would be okay in BUF, but he's not Foligno. Him not being Foligno would leave a bad taste in a lot of BUF fans' mouth.

A Greenway for swap Mitts is a trade I've thought about.

The only thing I can think of that might make sense for us is something around a Greenway for Mittelstadt swap, but that might not necessarily make sense for Buffalo.

That's the point, it was suggested by a journalist from Buffalo. Dumba can be a good rental and then we could trade him at TDL with a 50% retain, it's unlikely he's going to extension in Buffalo.

I know he's not Foligno, he'll add some jam to the roster.

I'm not a fan of the get a guy just to flip him at the next TDL. Too many things can go wrong for you to make a profit. I just look back at the Vanek/Moulson trade. It worked out great for BUF and ended up as a big loss for NYI later in the season.

I partly agree, it's a risk, but I'm looking for different options and we really need a top 4 RD next season. There aren't many good UFA RDs out there and not many people want to go to Buffalo, and I don't even know what our GM's plans are for next season. But we shouldn't repeat the same mistake to have our best prospects paired with marginal players.

I think Dumba has a 10 team NTC. Not saying BUF is on it, but that could be a deal killer right off the hop.

I know, of course, here purely hypothetically, I'm considering the option that Dumba does not have a Buffalo on this list.

Gotcha, yeah I kinda figured. And I assume Thompson isn’t going anywhere?

Thompson have been one of our best players this season, I would definitely not consider trading him, unless it was for a very good top 4 RD with term, but that scenario is unlikely. I just don't know what you are looking return for Dumba and if you are going to resign him. I think Olofsson or Mittelstadt could be available for trade, 1st Vegas or Florida, maybe some kind of defense prospect (Johnson and Laaksonen). But I'm not sure Minnesota would be interested.

Yeah it’s hard to say, because anyone looking at our cap situation and Dumbas contract can figure out that he’s a prime candidate to get moved. But the little messaging we get from management seems to suggest they want him here long term.

If he gets moved, I’d think it would be futures based, but I could be wrong. 1st and a prospect or young roster player is what I’d start looking for. Not sure what the plan is with him though.

We don’t need a RD for just part of next year though
We need that RD for next year AND beyond
Doesn’t make any sense to get Power used to a partner for part of the season & then make him start all over again for the rest of the season, and then (presumably) get him another partner to start the following season

We jerked around Dahlin like that, and look how it stunted his development

Let’s find the RIGHT guy to pair with Power
Someone that’ll be here for a few years at least

You can have them both for Mittelstadt and a second rounder since it's an offseason move
