Play to your strengths

Created by: Islesforthecup
Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 26, 2022
Published: Jan. 27, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team is never going to be an offensive powerhouse, both bc of a lack of talent and bc of the system. In order to succeed we need 2 way players that can skate.

The 3rd line is a recreation of the goodrow-gourde-coleman line. All 3 gays play similar and have many of the same attributes as the tampa line. Fast, physical, tenacious, relentless, and just a b*tch to play against.

More could be added if needed to the kulikov trade.

I really dont know what giroux will get in FA. I think this will be a competitive offer though. I would, very reluctantly, give a 3rd year if it was really necessary.

Wild have no reason to make that trade.

Nope, given his performance this year, that contract is currently $1.5M under market value for him. He's cheap, reliable, and shores up our 3rd pairing. He's also done extremely well whenever one of the top 4's gone down.

I was thinking that probably fiala is out this summer. And ive seen a lot of greenway also going this summer recently. So i thought getting a very cheap solid middle 6 option would be a big help considering the cap crunch.

Swap Giroux and Wahlstrom

So i was debating that bc that way giroux could take faceoffs for barzal but i would rather it this way bc i giroux fits that line so much better than wahlstrom. The 2nd line would be in shambles with wahly there instead of giroux.

Wahlstrom and Forsberg don’t make sense to play on the same line. So one needs to be moved down

It makes a lot more sense to have forsberg and wahlstrom on a line with barzal than to have a wahlstrom-nelson-lee line.

Wild can fill those holes from within. Lots of good young LW in AHL.

If you thought getting a "very cheap, solid middle 6 option" would be a big help then why didn't you offer that instead of Bellows?

Hes probably going to sign a 2×900k deal i hope thats cheap enough for you. Its not like hes going to be making minimum wage.
As for his performance hes currently on pace for roughly 40 points over an 82 game season, on the islanders, getting inconsistent minutes and constantly moving around the lineup. I know you have your preconceived notions that bellows is terrible and is a complete bust but hes actually played well this year.
