Initial Creation Date: Jan. 25, 2022
Published: Jan. 27, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
CHI
Again, not really the point of the post, but why not?
    BUF
    1. Connolly, Brett
    2. 2022 3rd round pick (VGK)
    Additional Details:
1 year Cap Dump that can be sent to the AHL.
    2.
    CHI
    EDM
    1. Beaudin, Nicolas
    2. Fleury, Marc-André ($3,500,000 retained)
    3. Gustafsson, Erik
    4. Strome, Dylan ($1,500,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
BOTH Flower and Strome sign reasonable 2-year extensions.

MAF wants a consistent address, so his kids don't move around a bunch.

CHI management has messed around with Strome too much.
He's always been a point producer, but they thought he was a 4th liner grinder. Worst management decision Bowman made since trying to force Kaner to play center! It's in Strome's best interest to sign a 2 year reasonable contract because he'll get plenty of opportunity to put up points in EDM. Then after two years he can get a big contract.
    3.
    CHI
    1. 2023 2nd round pick (COL)
    Additional Details:
These guys will get trade somewhere and for something. I tend to think COL is a good fit for a 2nd round pick.

Can’t see Holloway being included for that

Yeah, I agree. I really do think EDM has a solid chance at winning the cup. They just need a goalie and more depth. They have the intangible things that cup winners need...IMO. I know that Broberg/Bouchard are out of the question. I just wasn't sure if EDM valued Holloway more or less than Xavier at this point.

You already screwed Edmonton once, the least you could do is use lube this time.

I’m very high on Holloway. Lundell and Jarvis are showing up. Holloway is next. I can see him as good as Brady Tkachuk

If it was Lavoie instead of Holloway I don’t think Edmonton hesitates to accept.

We would have to take on at least one more bad contract + add a pick get to Holloway, and that's Edmonton being generous, they REALLY like Holloway.

I just don't think that'll get Strome too. That Hawks will just take Strome to arbitration then. I understand we can't just look at last night to value Strome. I just also know that Hawks management has really messed around with that kid. He's not winning a Selke...we all get that, but they just played soo many games with him. He's a SOLID point producer and great vision/passing. If he played next to a speedster it was be and awesome combination.

You don't think eating $5M in cap is worth that extra bad contract? Holloway may not be in the cards, but in order to get (3) playoff runs with Strome/MAF and good prospect in Beaudin is a lot.

It's not that I don't think it's worth it. It's that Oilers fans fall head over heels for Holloway, and he's nearly untouchable.

At 1st I was going to go for Borberg, but from the outside looking in...he's most likely the "most untouchable" of them all. EDM's defense is going to be very good with Nurse, Bouchard, Broberg. Wingers can be replaced. I don't know if Xavier Bourgault projects to be a center or winger, but he's a good prospect too. I don't think Holloway will be Brady Tkachuk like @csick thinks, but Holloway will be a nice forward for sure.

Might take more than a 3rd to get Buffalo to accept his 3.5mil salary that we’d still have to pay, regardless of him being sent to the AHL
