It's not a bad list at all but it shows that your ranking heavily relies on WAR models, as it overvalues Wideman like crazy.

I think wideman’s film also backs up the fact that he has been arguably montreals most consistent defender this season

My biggest criticism against this model is that it struggles to take into account workload/competition. As soon as a 3rd pairing defenseman is half-decent against weaker competition it overvalues it like crazy. Niku is in the same boat.

I think Pezzetta has been good for us considering his role. Love the energy he brings but I understand because he's technically not the most gifted player (but a great bottom 6 player)

I think I disagree with almost every placement on here unanimously. I mean no disrespect, but this looks like a list made by someone who watched one game of the Habs this year and filled in the gaps with who has the most point totals afterwards. (Or WAR rating as someone previously mentioned)

Ouuffff. I think if you rewatch that film, you'd change you mind real quick. He's been awful. (Just as the entire team has been)

Yeah he makes some mistakes but he's been their best defenceman on the breakout this year. He is also relatively good at holding the blue line in the offensive zone. He hasn't been outstanding or anything but non of the Montreal defenceman really has either honestly.

I mean, sure i'll give you that, he's been better at the breakout than guys like Savard, Chiarot and even Petry but I kind of feel like there is ALOT more to being a good dman than that. Guys like Savard are not EVER going to be good at breakout. That's not what they're made for. BUT the things they're good at heavily outweigh what Widemans good at. I would argue, Wideman isn't even really good at the thing you think he is good at.

Also look at Widemans 5v5 ice time....... he is one of the least used dman on the team at even strength and the most at PP. There is a reason for that. My gripe is that his best thing, quarterbacking the PP, hasn't even been good.

Wideman is a 7th dman/AHL guy.
