I get that the Oilers could use help, but is Holland really that desperate? Kane’s had chance after chance to redeem himself and nothing has worked, so I don’t see how he gets better now. Maybe Holland thinks that getting Kane to go with Keith would be a good idea, but I think he picked the wrong Kane lol

Nah he got the right Kane! With Keith handling the whole Aldrich situation, this Kane belongs in Edmonton with the group Holland is putting together!

Evander Kane still doesn't fix the goaltending and defense, which are bigger concerns. The roster is poorly constructed and requires a lot of work to be fixed.

If you remove KAne's off ice stuff, no one cares. he is still a very good player. HE is the Tortorella of NHL players. good for a season or 2 then they ruin your locker room

Kane needs cash for $1M at half a year = $2M cap. whatever Oil can handle it

Might get him closer to TDL where he can better address those items.

It took a special kind of desperation for any NHL team to sign him "not my quote but a Sportsnet quote"

Holland showed his desperation as clear as day (Still not 100% confirmed but with every passing minute seems more likely)

In a sense its a 1 for 1 trade

Oilers got Kane but in a sense probs lost the respect of a good chunk of the fanbase and are gonna get murdered by the media.

As this is what Kane's 5th or 6th chance now? Guess 3-strikes aren't a thing anymore lul

Still...would not surprise me if by March he breaks Covid protocols again

Yeah, I'd expect Kane to play well and not be an absolute nuisance for one season and then turn back into his old self if he ends up getting an extension. Kinda like Antonio Brown ended up recently with the Bucs in the NFL.

When did sports teams become the beacon of ethical signings? If Oilers win the building is packed and Kane's issues are quickly forgotten.

Again if he is a big POS then the league has a chance to act.

YA idk. i really dont think Oilers can afford to extend him. They need another goalie and a LHD next season.

Kane just allows Holloway to not be top 6 this season IMO

Holland has had many chances to redeem himself also… this is a “gamble” but a pretty solid one since the guy is skilled, is gritty type of player they need. No need him for a full season, just a few months to let him prove his worth as not many care to give him that chance… DeAngelo has done it pretty well… 2M is only 666K off the cap space
