You could probably drop the 2nd round pick to a 3rd to offset eating Hagelin's cap and it would still be fair from a Detroit perspective.

He hasn't been quite as good this year, but he's still a top pairing, puck moving defenseman and half retained, plus pro-rated at the deadline is still a pretty good asset for a late 1st...

Doubt it. Seems like a dumb way to waste a high end prospect. I believe most agree Lappy would be available but not McM. If I trade McM it would be for a player w term not a rental…bud
