I see this as a low risk move for the Oilers with a potentially high return. His off-ice problems didn’t seem to affect his play with San Jose – I suspect that the arena is the one place where he can forget about everything else – and if he turns out to be a liability, he’s only signed for the rest of this season, and not for a lot of money. I guess the no-move clause means they can't waive him, but maybe they could terminate his contract (I honestly don’t know what would need to happen for that). As recently as last season he was the Sharks’ top scorer, so it seems more likely to me that he’ll turn out to be a bargain signing.

Kudos to Kane for betting on himself and taking a one year deal

Would anyone realistically give him anymore than that, a half a year deal after all of what happened?

I'm so done with this joke of a league, man. How tf does he get a job after everything he's pulled?

Steve Howe brought a gun through airport security but because he was a lefty who could throw in the upper 90's he got like 7 2nd chances see hockey's version.

Ken Holland inherited a lineup whose top-9 wingers were RNH, Chiasson, Rieder, Kassian, Lucic, and Sam Gagner.

He has removed 4 of the 6 and added Puljujarvi, Kane, Hyman, Foegele and Yamamoto, who make a combined $12.7M. He hasn't patched all the holes, but he's done a decent job on the wingers at least.

He added guys that where already there?

So were supposed to be impressed because he recalled a guy from the AHL and convinced Pulijujarvi to fly back to Edmonton? Might as well give him the Jim Gregory now
Could also go in on how he over paid Hyman and that terrible Foegele trade but I digress

Puljujarvi wasn't coming back to a Chiarelli led team. Yes, you should be impressed that Holland was able to smooth the waters and convince him to come back and to sign a very team-friendly deal.

Your opinion of the Hyman deal or Foegele trade are entirely irrelevant to my comment - Holland has drastically improved the top-9 wingers in Edmonton and it's not open for debate.

All these "improvements" only for the team to be worse then last year, really wish my GM was this good :/

I don't agree with lots that Holland has done/ not done, but you can't argue that he hasn't improved the wings.

He's starting today's game beside McDavid.

Under/over 2 points today? I'll take over.
