Description
Not sure how Wild or Wings fans will feel about this.
My thinking is Zadina could use a change, something Friedman was rambling about. No doubt Zadina is Immensely talented.
Wild need to move a big contract or they really can't afford Fiala.
Redwings get Fiala and pair him with Larkin and live happily ever after.
Wild lose Fiala but possibly get a player who could be better and stave off their salary cap crunch a bit longer.
Boldy can play with anyone so maybe he can unlock Zadina.

Fiala isn't a 2nd rd pick better than Zadina.

Zadina is playing good hockey and is only 22.

I don't see him being traded before Vrana returns because they had good chemistry.

With the amount of wingers Detroit has if they trade Zadina they would be looking for a center or LD.

I’d take this in a heartbeat, the chances of whatever player Yzerman could get with that 2nd rounder or Zadina becoming as good as Fiala aren’t too high, and he seems to fit the age range of our current core. I know Zadina still has promise but I can’t see him reaching it with the Wings at this point. He’s better off with a fresh start to get his mind right.

To be honest, I think Fiala for Zadina one for one is pretty good. Maybe a small add, but I like the idea.

And similar to the bertuzzi idea, the wild get a cost controlled player who will be fairly cheap. Of course, they have to bank on zadina achieving his upside in a system where Blashill isn’t trying to make him something he’s not (like aa, like Mantha, etc.)

Pretty much. You’re getting a 60pt winger who hasn’t entered his prime

One thing I think - fiala won’t be dealt for zadina at the deadline - if this trade were to happen after the wild make their run.

The reason is the trade is banking on zadinas potential and upside, and they want to go all in this year with their team. After that, they can’t really afford to sign fiala, so the trade makes sense.

I’m not sure I’d throw in the second but a lower round pick + zadina should be sufficient due to the cap situation and zadinas top six potential and good fancy stats. That said, I’d probably be willing to pay the caps second instead if it were me. Idk.

Even though he has never hit the 60 point mark yet?

I think this offer is pretty good value wise for Detroit but there are bigger needs for us than wingers so I'd rather see Zadina traded (if he has to be traded) for a centre or defender prospect. Accepting this offer would cause problems finding roster spots for Berggren and Söderblom and a few others.

If this was offer was a 1 for 1 or with someone like Gagner or Stecher added instead of the 2nd and it was done at the upcoming TDL then I'd say yes immediately.

I agree with everything you just said but if you look closely i do have this deal taking place at the draft not the deadline.

Its not my dream return for zadina but it's not a bad deal. I'd take probably take it.
