Perennial 1st round exit doesn't want players from the team that ruined their playoffs hopes. That math checks out.

yeah, because most of those players are the reason their team is the last in the league.

Just what Seattle needs 3 goalies totalling 16m. That Zub trade shakes head . Ritchie, Anderson and 3rd....Ottawa doesn't accept that as gift, never mind giving up Zub.
Dermot is an NHL Dman, he's not traded for unneeded AHLer.

Zub is far too important to Ottawa to peel him away for so little

There's no point in arguing with him, Dermott's ok but this guys always calling him doormat and seems to think he's one of the worst dman in the NHL.

Dermott is barely an NHL player that Spin-o-Rama led to Kotkaniemi's OT winner in Game 6? Montreal fans know more than enough about Dermott to know we dont want/need him.

The odds are multiple of those guys are moved out. Dermott would develop into a solid bottom pair guy, his ceiling isn’t high but he’s already a solid d man and still has a bit of more room to grow. The only way you wouldn’t be winning the Dermott trade is if Montreal Management and Coaching started giving him the Victor Mete treatment

getting a 3rd pair defenseman through Free Agency is easy, we dont need to trade Pezzetta and a 4th. Everyone seems to be happy keeping their own players. No point in having a pissing match.

Actually only 2 are likely to be moved out (Wideman and Chiarot) possibly 3 if Kulak is moved as well but we have others ready to step in (Guhle, Struble Harris if he signs, Clague and Niku) the reason we suck is the coaches system sucks. He is trying to implement a system that works in JR hockey against the best players in the world which is just stupid.

And our Star goalie has played 0 games, our 2nd and 3rd string goalies have played the majority of the games, our 4th string goalie has been used most most recently, and our 5th string goalie even had to take to the net.

Its almost like Habs dont have things going their way this year. haha

The worst defensive team in the league has an absence of depth. None

How does this make sense? IF that team has 9 players that should be 5-6D position, does it make sense to get another one that's a 5-6D?

I guess you need to find some sort of defence against being the worst team in hockey.

So now Montreal's has 9 3rd pair defenceman? This is just hilarious

It's not a defense. I'd much rather a Cup Final followed by a lottery pick than 18 years of 1st round exits/playoffs miss.

I'd much rather win nothing and then be the worst team so I can get a high pick and still have a team riddled with major long term deaf cap space.

Okay bud, I'll enjoy watching TO be a top team and go to the playoffs.

Montreal has a major lack of talent and major long term cap problems. But please tell me how all your players are better than other players still.

Montreal is about to rebuild. Much of that cap can be moved. Its not an issue.

Montreal's defense next year: Petry, Savard, Edmundson, Romanov, Clague, Niku, Guhle, Norlinder, Struble, Harris, Outside shot at Mailloux.

Dermott hasnt proven to be anything more than these players, at least not enough to block one of the kids, or to spend Pezzetta and a 4th. It makes no sense.

Gotta love the arrogance here, "I'd much rather win nothing and then be the worst team" the Leafs were awful awful awful for years before they got Marner & Matthews and they didn't have anything close to a Cup Final to make up for it. But sure thing bud squinty smile Keep up your great Habs-hating obsession on Internet forums, I'm sure it relieves you from all the bad things in life.

Ahh ok, nice to see him having a good year.

Reimer is such a good guy, I think SJ should keep him if we're in the playoffs or not. He sets a great example for our youth and keeps us in games where our defense is getting destroyed.

ROUGH Zub trade. You’d need to pony up a pretty penny to pry him out of Ottawa. This is nowhere near getting considered by Dorion. Hard pass.

We have one top pairing D man (petry), three 3-4 D men (Edmundson, Chiarot and Romanov), and many 5-7 D men, count them if you want Kulak, Clague, Niku, Savard and Wideman. With Guhle, Norlinder, Struble and potentially Harris if he signs capable of playing the 5-7 role next year. Where would Dermott fit

Next to Petry because all your defense sucks. Petry is a 34 year old declining former above average 2nd pair guy. He can't handle top guy responsibility.

No, that's just an self-defense mechanism whiny Leafs fans have put together to avoid talking about the embarrassment of last season. Losing in the Finals and losing in the 1st round, or Robin Round, is not the same.

Habs don't really need Dermott. LHD isn't an issue for us. Rather keep Pezzetta

He isn't declining, his advanced stats show this is a down year for him where puck luck, injuries and bad partners have dragged him down
