We don't need any of that extra fluff for Reimer. It will take a 1st or a couple 2nd's. No added crap.

Yeah sharks pass. A 4th liner, potential 3rd D pairing, an overpaid goaltender and a 2nd isn’t going to get it done for Reimer with retention. Reimer has been better and much cheaper than Varlamov and you’re asking San Jose to take a bunch of crap for a much lower return, doesn’t make sense

I was thinking Reimer was pretty good and has another year, the Sharks go back to trying to compete next year right?

Neither goalies are worth any where near that

That's an overpay for Varlamov. I still think he's a smart get for the Oilers, I'd think a 1st plus Koskinen is enough to get it done. Paying a 1st, 3rd, and decent prospect without giving any salary back is a huge overpay.

I did read somewhere that they may keep both Varlamov and Sorokin for the Russian factor. Sorokin is still only in his 2nd year in North America so losing his mentor and only other Russian on the team could have impacts on the human side of it. I remember in the Panarin/Bobrovsky free agencies, going places with a Russian community was a factor.

Year and a half for Reimer at just over a million for how well he has been playing plus taking all the other worthless cap and junk in the trade costs more. Reimer is a 2nd on his own, add in taking everything else and it’s more

I'd argue Reimer is worth a late 1st. He's been a top-tier goalie this year except for when he was playing injured.

Really depends how the Hertl situation unfolds, sharks are expected to offer him a contract very soon according to Lebrun. Will have Eklund full time next year and maybe Bordeleau. Might as well try.

With all those long term contracts at least next year they have to in my opinion, but yeah I guess Hertl is the big question mark.

I mean, he is. He doesn't re-sign then a prolonged reset takes place. He does re-sign then we can talk about competing. I'd whine more about our contracts if Burns, Karlsson and Couture weren't all having excellent years.

Yeah Karlsson's injury was the wrench in the whole thing. Couture wasn't as surprising to me Burns was.

Sharks are surprisingly good with Karlsson out. Merkley has been a nice surprise (when Bob actually plays him)

Bob is doing the Todd McLellan bs playing lesser skilled vets over rookies because the rookie made one small mistake.

Yeah, honestly the Sharks could be a playoff team this season, but they got a gauntlet in front of them this coming month. And honestly, if all California teams keep the Oilers out I think we are slowly securing the eventual departure of one of McD or Drai. Which is a win for our division.

Maybe. But With McDoodle and Drai there they are way too top heavy to do any serious damage unless they sign a proper goaltender. Even still their defense is abysmal.

Playoffs or not Sharks surpassed basically everyone's thoughts on where they would finish. Injuries and covid killed us in the end IMO. Pretty amazing when you subtract the teams best scorer and the team is better, that's how toxic Evander is.

Bullet dodged with Kane, but beware I feel a Mike Richards-esque cap hit coming to you guys.

I know...Going to be relying awfully heavily on the Bordeleau's, Eklund's and Robins' of the world in the coming years on ELC's and hopefully low cap bridge deals. At least the team chemistry is best it's been in years!
