F*ck man...I haven't seen a lot of Rags games this year, but if they're always putting Laffy out with someone like Barron or Chytil, it's not hard to tell why he's not exactly seeing a ton of success tears of joy

Not commenting on the actual value of the trade, because I'm sure there'll be enough folks from both sides that get fired up about it, but man...DubCat would look pretttttty good on this roster.

I'm more positive on Kakko than I am Laf. I think Kakko has all the makings for a solid middle-six winger and as long as the Rangers find a way to put him in his lane he'll be a decent player, so I think they should keep Kakko.

I love his game too. He was good on the top line and then all the sudden, Ryan Reaves.

Trade Lafrenière at the deadline, see how Kakko does the rest of the year and playoffs. Rangers can’t waste this year.

I agree. When Panarin was out they put Lafreniere in the top 6 and he was ppg.

Trade Lafreniere for who? What team will want to make a seismic trade like that?

Yeah, he's defnitely better than his numbers. Don't know how anyone can be expected to contribute regularly when you're playing less than 14 minutes a night.

I get being behind Panarin/Kreids, and I've got nothing against Barclay because I think he's good $hit...but how the heck is he playing 3+ minutes more a night than Laf?! Are the Rangers anti-playing players on their off wing (Keeping in mind that Panarin plays on his off wing...), or have they already tried it with Laf yet?

Yeah and I think the scoring would come a bit more if he was on the third line. Laf? It's hard to tell. Maybe the expectations for him were too high. I feel they're tagging every 1st overall with the generational moniker now. He may have needed some time in the AHL to get used to the speed of the game.

You might get Dach for one of those guys. But Cat would definitely cost more than those two.

They played Laf at RW and looked uncomfortable with the position. Skating was poor and he wasn't engaged. Think it was a game against Florida but he didn't skate hard on a dump and chase and Gallant put in Goodrow immediately after tears of joy

tears of joy

HAhahaha, yeah...Turk doesn't put up with that $hit tears of joy

Fair enough though. I guess I kind of figured Kreids would be moving down in the lineup this year, but then he went all "Greatest shooting percentage of all time" on you guys, so how are you going to take minutes from that, right? Absolutely ridiculous...21.6%! I mean, that's obviously unsustainable, but man, it's ridiculous! Career high in goals and they've just passed the halfway mark of the season

I'd trade Kreider if I could.

Oh 100%...I mean, it's peak value time for him, and that contract is going to get rough. Don't know how you do it when you're in a (potential) contending position though. Plus, he's definitely a Gallant-type player.

tears of joy I'd look forward to the Brooksie article 10 years down the road, after Kreider retires and inevitably ends up in the HOF...I'm sure they'll be some gold quotes, like:

"The beginning of the end-A look back at how trading away the HOF's greatest shooter of all time sealed @stanley_cup_to_manhattan's fate before his career ever began..."

"GM thrown out of New York after he turned out to be a Dolan clone!"

"Kreider, the NHL's all-time leading goal scorer, passed Alex Ovechkin in his age 34 season after raising his career shooting percentage to 50%!"

"Ex GM on trading away GOAT: We just wanted Laffy to get some minutes!!!! Oooops!"

Purely on the face of the trade itself, few things.

Number one, this trade would basically be two wingers for two wingers. Dach isn’t a center. His offense sucks, he’s terrible on faceoffs, and he doesn’t shoot. Number two, Cat alone would probably be worth this or a little more maybe. Big problem with his value is that his production is solely tied to his teammates on his line. So it’s touchy. Number three, the rangers are in a position where they don’t need to think trade on these two. The hawks though, aren’t going anywhere for a few years and do have to consider whether or not it’s time to sell.

This is a trade, unless it’s Kane going to the rangers, that is completely undoable.
