Miller is only a target if they know something the fan base or reporters don't regarding Tkachuk, Gaudreau. Great target if you know Tkachuk is playing hardball to get to UFA, acquire Miller and move Tkachuk for a haul in the off season.

Would definitely still be keeping Tkachuk. And the money works just fine next year with Gaudreau and Tkachuk at $9.0M each, Mang at $5.0M, and Kylington at $3.25M. Tkachuk isn’t leaving.

That doesn't get you Miller, also that doesn't fill any of VAN needs.

I mean obviously ideal and you can fit both at $9M that's fine. If his desire is to free agency though, this off season is the absolute last chance the Flames have of getting any sort of value out of him. It's really in his court if he wants to stay or not, if they miss or are bounced in the first round of the playoffs, you can almost guarantee he's on a $9M QO and looking at UFA next season.

Just who do you think JT Miller is anyway.

Ryan O’Reilly did not get that big of a return with 5 years left. Miller with 1, that’s an overpayment.

Expectations of returns have gotten ridiculous on here.

JT likely going to NYR for something along the lines of 1st/Lundqvist/3rd or 1st/Schneider.

The website is certainly getting younger, it's less about going back and forth and trying to determine what a players value may be at this point and it's just about feeling right. Has gotten silly, EA Sports influence on trade values for sure!

JT Miller is VAN best player (161 games 57 goals 105 assist 162 points). Plays all forward positions, can play all special teams, can play a skill game and a physical game, he can win faceoffs, and a great leader etc.

You get him for 2 playoff runs on a sweetheart contract. (if VAN retains 50% of his salary even better).

O'Reilly wanted out and the Sabres had incompetent management and got absolutely fleeced on that trade. VAN new management regime is miles better.

All JT Miller has done since being acquired by the Canucks is increase his value. JR is going to get a massive haul for him.

According to Lebrun, "it takes three or four assets to get into a serious conversation with Vancouver about JT Miller".

According to LeBrun, "the Canucks will let bidders know in the near future to get their best offer in (for JT Miller) sooner rather than later. “Don’t wait until March 21 to make your best offer or you might miss out”

I doubt Monahan gets moved at TDL, but I could see him going to Boston in the offseason.
I would do that type of Miller trade. But because Monahan won't get moved until offseason I would offer something a little different to make the cap work at the TDL this year.

My trades would be:

TDL (van and cgy):
Valimaki + Zary + 1st + Pitlick for JT Miller

Offseason (bos and cgy):
Monahan for Nosek + 2nd or 3rd

The point here is that the Flames could probably put a package together that doesn’t ruin the team. Feel free to take a couple pieces off that trade. Going to be tough to convince a division rival to trade an absolute stud to CGY.

Also, clearly you don’t value excellent cap hit contracts. Miller is a perfect fit for CGY, improves their entire 2nd line, and leaves enough room for Treliving to extend EVERYBODY and keep this team together for the next 2 years at least. CGY has to pay a premium to get Miller, and my view is it’s worth it. Adjust the pricing accordingly, this value ain’t a starting point in negotiations.

I’ve got more posts on here than you, been here for years, and was even a regular back on Capgeek way back in the day before Capfriendly existed. Like, what are we even talking about here? Did my trade make you sad or something?

CGY needs to move a decent amount of cap to make it work. Will be a similar story for most playoff teams.

+ Are you sure VAN would be interested in taking the risk on Coronato? CGY fans will be quick to tell you how painful it is to see how great Adam Fox is. Being semi-sarcastic on this comment. Coronato looks like he’ll be a great NHLer. Just gun shy with college prospects on the other side of the continent from their “home”.

His contract has 1 year left not multiple and he’s underpaid by 1 to 1.5m. His contract is good, not special. He’s good, not Gretzky. Better have gone for less.

Everyone was on Capgeek, let’s not start patting ourselves on the back for wasting more time on the internet than others. Just pointing out to someone else that like most of the forums, social media etc it progresses and gets younger, it’s how these things work. You recognize that influence more and more, it’s interesting to watch is all, settle down, no need to get defensive. About your fakehockey trade and needing to tell people how much time you spend on the internet.
