how come Rask's and Kanes cap hits are different

when you look at kanes contract he is penalized (or oilers) and its like a 2 mill cap hit as per a rule for signing part way thru the season--rask's contract doesnt have the same penalty? is this because he was prev with the bruins ?

Think it's because Kane's contract has a signing bonus lncluded but Rask's does not. The cap is calculated differently when the contract consists of both base salary and a signing bonus, if the contracts are signed mid-season.
