Not a fan of moving Foote for a rental but I would like to add Klingberg at the deadline somehow

I think replacing him with Hugo is fair

I can't see getting Klingberg without Foote included. But I get your point.

If Foote has to be included I hope JBB says no thanks. Not thrilled by the prospect of Cernak and Bogosian as their only sign RD next year , and Foote is playing better every game. His skating is on par with Maroon (no compliment) but his positioning and reading the play has dramatically improved

He's a pure rental. Rentals dont usually get a 1st and NHL ready prospects of Footes caliber. Maybe of Tampa was also dumping a contract but otherwise thats historically speaking an overpayment

Would give up a 1st and Foote, but not Katchouk also. If Tampa adds more than 1st and Foote, then Dallas has to pay 3rd party retention

    They are paying it here...

Cap wise adding Katchouk (or any roster player) was a must.

Awful for Detroit. 50% retain will cost at least a 2nd. The Savard trade from last year was already retained 50% by Columbus, so Detroit was really only retaining 25% and it only cost them 90k in real money

At the TDL Klingberg's remaining cap hit will be about $850,000. So Detroit would be retaining $425,000.
