Those are vast overpayments, especially on Kane. I mean, you would be closer to McDavid for that package. Toss in a couple of first rounders for some retention on McDavid and he will never just waltz right through the Rangers again, like a knife through butter.

The fact that you just spent less on half-retained Miller than Toffoli+Chiarot makes this more ludicrous than it should be.

Habs say yes...You could probably remove a first and they would still say yes

Chiarot is a 1st and Kravtsov. Toffoli is 50% retained for Lundkvist, Chytil and a 1st. Miller 50% retained is a 1st, 2nd, Schneider who I regard more than Lundkvist and Barron who looks to be a decent bottom six prospect.

Haven’t you heard even at 33 Kane is a god and is worth the world.

Chiarot shouldn't be any more than 2nd+3rd. Basically Dillon's return when he was moved from SJ to WSH. Any more than that and I'd drop out, nothing in his performance justify such a gigantic return.

Toffoli shouldn't be targeted anyway due to Habs wanting too much from him.

By the same token Miller shouldn't cost more than Lundkvist+Chytil+1st+2nd. Any more than that and it's just not worth it.

These moves make Rangers a bit better now but they'd regret them big time in a matter of two years or so. What is the point of losing all the value that was acquired so soon for naught, NYR is not going to be able to beat the likes of Bolts or Avs anyway even with these acquisitions.

The Rangers aren’t winning crap with these trades or keeping the prospects. This team is gonna be mediocre for the next 5-10 years.

That would be such a joke if they didn't considering how lucky they've been lotto wise. Wasting the talents of the likes of Lafreniere and Kakko is an achievement in itself, but not exactly a praiseworthy one. If they don't manage anything with all that potential simmering in there, the Rangers are going to be the Oilers of 2020s.

That being said, Rangers is a very young team. Your lineup has three players that are over 30 years old, with Panarin and Kreider being exactly 30 and Reaves being 35. They have many prosperous years ahead of them...as long as they don't rush.

If Rangers were to acquire pieces by using their potential youth as assets, they should think very hard what kind of players they'd target. I personally am of the opinion that while Toffoli and Chiarot are decent players, they're not enough to change anyone's course. They need top-6 quality that are still in their prime. The likes of Boeser, Fiala and DeBrincat, maybe Chychrun or Girard. Spending for those kind of assets shouldn't backfire as quickly as 30+ year old rentals.

Whatever happens I’ll be there to enjoy the ride. I still think those I’ll ever get to seeing them win a cup in my lifetime is the finals loss to the Kings in 2014. And this is coming from a 24 year old. 1 cup in 82 years. I will probably be dead before they win another.

Hey, I'm also 24. My Stars have won one cup, and I was a one year old when that happened.

They got very close in 2020, but Tampa was just too good.

We're in similar situation, except NYR is actually looking good future wise. Our stock is rapidly decreasing because Stars, unlike Rangers, is OLD. Like, f*cking ancient. And our head coach is a fossil.

So I feel your pain to say the least.

Closest to enjoying one was watching Tampa win as they’ve got my favorite player Stamkos and so many of my favorite Rangers from over the years. Plus I’ve been following them and the Rangers since the debut of Lundqvist and when St. Louis and Lecavalier were playing.

Lowkey I can't be too mad either. TB is my brother's favorite team and my second favorite so it was an ideal team to lose, and Stammer is also one of my favorites. Have been throughout his career. I started watching NHL closer in around 2010 and Stamkos were the hottest prospect back then. You could say I've grown up watching the guy become who he is today.

I definitely feel you on that. I think my first hockey game I ever went to was Bolts and Rangers at the garden when I was a kid. It’s weird to see a completely different generation of players playing now and the guys I grew up watching get older.

Since I'm an European I have never actually seen a NHL game live, but I plan to go watch the next time teams come here. Due to the pandemic it just might take more time.

But yeah you can reflect on yourself growing up when the guys you looked up as the young stars of the league turn into seasoned veterans. Time just goes on by.

Oh I hope you’re able to one day. Nothing else beats it live. Some of the greatest times are watching your team live and winning games in the playoffs. It’s expensive so I haven’t done it often, but the atmosphere is simply electric.
