Playoffs bound/future is bright

Description
Offseason needs for the Jets.

They can score a tonne of goals, but can't defend. To fix that they trade a younger Jacob Trouba with 2 extra years of control to the Coyotes for OEL who's a LHD. This deal is done after the expansion draft of course. It is also done after July 1st when they agree pay Shattenkirk 7M long term with a top 4 spot. This is the insurance needed to move Trouba. Kyler Connor is essentially a younger Max Domi who's less physical but just as if not more skilled. Also plays into the ARZ expanding it's window a couple extra years.

Sign a good veteran backup to a decently reasonable contract. Condon fits that bill.

PA Parenteau is a value contract for an excellent 4th liner whos vastly underrated. Also allows jets to trade 2 underutilized skilled players in Dano and Petan for a young LHD.

Stock the young D cupboard. The addition of Fleury, the trade to draft higher and take Liljegren, the signing of Poolman and Niku, as well as Logan Stanley panning out give the Jets some decent D prospects.

Allows the team to "Go for it" now as well as be prepared in a couple years when they won't be able to retain all of their skilled forwards, which at that point they can start trading them away for more futures to consistently be competitive like CHI.

Comments?
The OEL/Domi, for Trouba/Connor might need picks to even out but on the whole I think it's pretty level based off potential etc vs salary structures.

Probably not enough to get OEL, and I doubt Liljegren will be there by the time the Jets are on the clock. Still can't figure out how this team doesn't win 50 games a year.

Trouba for Domi is fair trade straight up. So you're basically saying Arizona trades Connor for OEL? Nice idea for a Jets fan, but unrealistic

Yeah i don't see Liljegren falling too Winnipeg, Detroit will pick before Winnipeg. And if Liljegren is still on the board when Detroit picks then we're definitely taking him.

you sir cannot read...Winnipeg trades Myers + our 1st (9th OA) for Lowry back and their 1st (3rd OA) so Winnipeg CAN draft Liljegren at 3rd...or get Heisher or Patrick if they fall but doubt they do.

The value of the trade for OEL is actually a lot closer than you'd think. OEL has 2 years left at 5.5M then UFA, Trouba 1@2.5 then 2 years more RFA with arb rights) so essentially you get 3 years of Trouba for 2 of OEL. Trouba is playing like a true top pairing RHD this year and his possession metrics back that up. Domi is a very good player, but you're discounting the value (projected albeit) of Kyle Connor. Domi is also coming due a raise where KC is on ELC for two more years then RFA.

Looks like you don't know the rules of the expansion draft sir.

A player may not be traded back to his former team until January 1st 2018. Plus, you won't get Vegas' pick. They need all the top 3 picks they can get in the next few years. Plus, they won't want Myers, he's an okay d-man at best.

Good idea for OEL/Domi/Fleury I like that and it could def work with some more picks put in on our side. Shattenkirk is wayyyy too expensive and will make it tough to sign the kids when they need contracts and is completely unnecessary if Myers is healthy not to mention that he would never come here. Good trade ideas tho

Does Vegas just get 3rd pick or are they weighted 3rd in the lottery? If they are just weighted then the Jets could land 1-3 without a trade and Vegas could drop to 6th. If its weighted then that trade makes 0 sense and the Jets could get a better pick than Vegas due to the 3 team lottery.
