Great signing. He's an essential but unsung (to outsiders) member of their team, both on and off the ice.

They also need to get rid of Smith becuase of Eichel. Thy are gonna have to make a big move in the off-season

Good deal, McNabb’s a good 4/5 D and Vegas needs all the relatively cheap help they can get

Vegas is gonna pull a Tampa lets be honest. So, Eichel probs wont be back till the playoffs start.

And yes I know hes skating. Kucherov was skating with the Lightning but did not return till game 1.

As why would Vegas lower its chances at a cup

They could've went into next year with whitecloud the the top 4, but now they gotta move someone out. Dadanov is probably gone, and smith/janmark are going to FA. Still a solid team tho

Ugh, overpayment imo, Nabber is barely a top 4 defenseman anymore

I guess this means Hague might be gone next year? Even with moving Dadanov out I don't see how they resign Hague and ice 12 forwards. Maybe move Brossoit? Try and move Martinez? Karlsson? Going to to have to be lots of moving parts for the Knights this off-season.

Yeah.. because 6"4 220 Dmen that lead the NHL in blocked shots, amongst the leaders in hits, lead Vegas in SH ice time, and have decent xGF%...
Those guys definitely aren't worth 2.85mill....
Crazy talk. Mcnabb gets 4m easily on the open market.

I don't think these keeps them from re-signing Hague. He is still in the cheap-ish RFA territory.
They'll move Dadanov and Broissoit I think, as you said. If they need a little more they can move guys like Carrier and replace him with a league min guy.

Vegas has such a strong core, they can afford to lose some depth guys,

In no Galaxy does Nabber get 4M AAV on the open market, 3M at most, so I still don't call this deal a bargain by any means. He also stifles the team's offense when playing in the top 4

I don't know... I guess. I haven't really seen him play ever, but this seems ok, maybe a very slight overpayment.

Oleksiak, Edmundson, Brendan Dillon, Butcher, De haan...
Lots of comparables here, all in the 3.5-4.6 range.

He is a stay at home, defensive Dman.

Average NHL player making average NHL player money for another three years.

I think what people aren't seeing is that he's making only a 350k increase from what he's making right now. I'm not too familiar with Vegas' defensive depth but I'd wager this signing has more to do with keeping a familiar senior defensive group together rather than overpaying for a free agent who wouldn't give them more than what McNabb provides.

There are other ways to solve their cap issues; moving one of their wingers is going to be a priority if they actually want to ice 20 players next season. I don't think re-signing McNabb hurts them in the long run provided they have a smart offseason.
