If you really wanna do the 3 lines

Created by: rgwhite17

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 31, 2022
Published: Jan. 31, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I wouldn’t always run the lines like this but when necessary it will be more realistic to expect production from all 3. Keefe has shown he is great at getting different combinations out there for offensive zone draws so hertl would also see time with Matthews and Marner. Not just trading for a guy to play on the third line.

Severson deal as well because I still think a defensive upgrade is necessary too.

NSH declines on Kerfoot, and beats that weak offer for Hertl.

Totally agree unfortunately Keefe is already abandoning it. Kinda wish he stuck with it for a few more games. Even with the start against DET, I would have liked to see more of it.

That isn't getting Tommy. There's going to be plenty of competition for Hertl and this is quickly at the bottom.

Sharks decline. Not taking on Ritchie and retaining for that return

Sharks should consider a trade for Ritchie.
but it would be Nieto or Cogliano for Ritchie and a 3rd.
Ritchie has neg value right now, but i feel he can rebound in San Jose similar to Barabanov so i would consider it.
Just look at his numbers last year in Boston who play a similar defensive 1st style.

But that Hertl trade is just not close to his current value.

It would be nice but I just don't see the benefit of playing Nylander with Kampf, as he's just a blackhole offensively. In order for it to work imo we would need a 3C who's better offensively and still reliable defensively.

I wouldn't have abandon the balance lined approach just yet. The more line combinations you have that can work, the more you are able to disrupt the rhythm and pace of the game. Some nights they will work and some nights they won't (which you can always revert back to the current look they are going with tonight) have more options is better than not. It would help them down the road IMO. If they are able to find success with multiple combinations they will become less predictable to play against. Again, you can always go back to what works mid game.

Can't disagree with you there, having a more offensive 3rd line C would be beneficial. Could move Kampf down to the 4th line.

Oh absolutely, having different line combinations is always beneficial for all the reasons you mentioned below. I just think putting Marner Matthews and Nylander all on different lines doesn't work as long as Kampf is your 3C. He's fine there on the line tonight as it's more of a shutdown line. I honestly think if you're going to use these lines in certain situations, down 2-3 midway through a game/ going into the 3rd, you move Spezza up and Kampf down and roll those 3 lines, that would be an interesting concept I think.

Bunting Matthews Kase
Mikheyev Tavares Marner
Kerfoot Nylander Spezza
Engvall Kampf Simmonds

Would be interesting to see
