Call me crazy…and I know most will disagree…but, I would not trade Fiala straight up for Miller.

Hamonic doesn't give Winnipeg anything they need or want, they're not going to downgrade from DeMelo for a 3rd.

I understand wanting to dump Hamonic, but trying to upgrade him for free isn't likely to happen.

Pearson’s a winger and White’s a centre but their numbers are similar. Pearson’s cheaper but then again White’s 5 years younger so if anything that’s a wash. Then you have Ottawa picking up a cap dump (Dickinson) which means they’re eating an extra 1.15m against the cap for the next three years compared to Whites contract. Somehow on top of this Ottawa is giving up a 3rd and two 7ths?

Dickinson is most certainly not a cap dump

It's not a free upgrade, and Hamonic is a good 3rd pairing defender who has been injured

But Hamonic is not as good as DeMelo. So, it's not worth it for the Jets to downgrade for a 3rd. It's basically a free upgrade for Vancouver.

The Jet's aren't making the playoffs, so it isn't any skin off of their nose, and stop calling it a free upgrade you sour Jet's fan

How is it not a free upgrade? A 3rd is lucky to net you an AHL player, so what's in it for Winnipeg? Again take of your homer glasses and give me one logical reason Winnipeg would do it.

Don't whine when you post unrealistic trades and get called on them.

3x2.65m left on a guy who's having his worst statistical season since becoming a full time NHLer certainly isnt positive value added to the trade..? Especially when Vancouver's cap problems are taken into consideration...

Dickinson has played fine, he isn't a liability in anyway, even though he's underwhelmed, that doesn't necessarily all of a sudden make him a negative value asset. Vancouver won't have cap problems for much longer, I guarantee you they will find some creative ways to make cap space

Playing fine on a bad contract certainly doesn’t lead to an asset providing positive value in a trade. Would you still say he isn’t a negative asset if he was signed to 1m more? Or 1m less?

A good player on a bad contract is no longer a positive asset. Money matters. If Dickinson is just playing okay then that’s an issue because he’s not being paid to just be okay.

I'm saying I don't think his value is negative on the trade market right now the way some people think it is. His contract was considered a good signing back in the summer and I don't think he's underperformed it's value enough to qualify as a negative asset. There is no urgency to move Dickinson as he has bounce back potential, I still hold out hope there and wouldn't flip him for less than a 3rd rounder
