No, we won't be accepting a 2023 second for Josh Manson, unless it's accompanied by someone more appealing than Travis Dermott. If you're unwilling to give us your 2022 second or Topi Niemela, then we're going to ask for your 2023 first or Matt Knies.

Who's the last rental player to go in a trade for a B+/A- prospect? Even a 1st for Manson is a stretch, but maybe you get a bidding war going.

I mean, is a 2023 second really any different to a 2022 one? They are both second round picks.

I can see the Leafs trading their first for Manson but Knies or Niemela is a stretch for a rental, right now those two prospects are "untouchables" for how they are performing

Yes -- the player will hit the NHL one year earlier. There's a value to time. Plus, the placement of the 2022 choice will be generally known by the trade deadline, and become more defined as the playoffs begin and proceed. In contradt, a 2023 draft pick is a dart throw, with the proviso that Toronto's can be expected to be in the second half of the draw.

And yet 4th overall in points percentage. Funny how hits have so much of an impact in your mind but none on the score board. Embarrassing

Leads scored 7 goals against a bad NJD team, I want to see them play against contenders like the Panthers, Lightning, Canes, or Avs. Those teams are physical and play playoff hockey, lets see how the Leafs respond

It'll be a telling. They did dominate the AVS for 2 periods before running out of gas in a game coming off a long layoff with some pretty big players missing. They also are 1-0-1 vs Tampa and were the better team in both games. This team is a good team, when they play their game for a full 60 minutes they complete control the game

If you're talking about the Devils, they are not a good team and scoring 7 goals tells me absolutely nothing about the Leafs. Real test starts in the month of February and will show where the Leafs are at. Right now, I saw the Leafs score 14 goals against an AHL team in the last two games. It's like saying the Oilers are a good team after destroying the Canadiens. How do the Leafs face against the Lightning? Panthers?

Jersey is not an AHL team, still a ways away from contention but they are fast and dangerous at times. They are an up and coming team without doubt.

Last night was pond hockey, no physical contact at all. I want to see what happens when the Leafs face against one of the more physical teams in the league

Price was the difference vs Montreal. Idiots like to take the result and bend it to their opinion, but the reality is TO did outplay Montreal, they outscored them in the series and Price was the difference. All the hitting and the rest didn't matter. Of course you'll disagree but that's because you honestly have no clue how hockey works but love watching Rock em sock em and think that's hockey. It isn't

If you thought Carey Price was the difference maker, the Leafs will struggle heavily against Vasilevskiy, who as of right now is the Leafs first round opponent. The Leafs hate physical contact and are not build for a playoff hockey style, which is why many say that to beat the Leafs in the playoffs, be as hard as physical as you can and the stars won't show up. When does that narrative go away? It's embarrassing to be thought of as a soft team going into the playoffs

The Leafs don't hate physical contact. A smart person would have seen them completely dominate the puck battles last night. You can't win those unless you are hard on the puck. Running around and hitting people doesn't matter if you don't control the play and score. But you just are not capable of seeing anything but hits so my words are not going to teach you anything.

Leafs faced against an AHL team last night, even the TSN panel was bashing the NJD. Lets see if they can win those puck battles against contending teams like the Panthers or Lightning where there is more skill on those teams

Anyone in the media flys between the Leafs needing to move everyone and fire the coach and GM to plan the parade several times a period. Jersey is not at the level of TO. That's clear, however they are not the worst team in the NHL. They are young and make mistakes and their goaltending has been a mess. They have used 6 goalies this season and their top 2 guys are both hurt.

Let's he honest here though, if TO beats Carolina next week and handily, you'll complain about them being out hit and say it's embarrassing. Something along the lines of "the hits were 26-15, embarrassing! Come playoffs they are going to get walked because hits!"
